Lemon Pie Smoothie With Turmeric & Giveaway

I recently went to a wonderful fitness conference and sampled a yummy lemon turmeric drink from a brand that was at the nutrition expo. So when I got home I just had to recreate this drink as I craving the tart lemon flavor and also wanted the benefits of the turmeric in my body. Did you know turmeric is great for those sore muscles after working out?

I was excited when Siggi’s sent me some coupons to buy their yummy yogurt. They were also at the conference and provided us bloggers with plenty of yogurts for breakfast and snacks. I love that their creamy yogurt has only 11 grams of sugar and more protein (16 grams) than most yogurts. This wonderful dairy product is made from simple ingredients like milk, cane sugar, fruit, and fruit pectin. The milk is sourced from family farms that never use growth hormones. I think I found my new favorite yogurt! My boys were happy that there was plenty of Siggi’s in our refrigerator. The youngest loves eating yogurt and eats it all day. This mom approves!

So what makes Siggi's so special?
Siggi's is an Icelandic skyr (pronounced "skeer") which is a strained yogurt that has been a staple in the Icelandic diet for more than 1000 years. The founder Siggi Hilmarsson was unhappy with the too sweet and artificial yogurts in the US so his mother sent him a recipe for skyr, a wholesome unprocessed food from his childhood. Siggi started making this strained yogurt in his small New York kitchen and soon realized that he needed to start selling this yogurt.  He quit his day job and open up a full-scale dairy plant in Upstate New York.

                                              Lemon Pie Smoothie With Turmeric
                                                      makes 1 serving

                                one container Siggi's vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup cashew or almond milk
                                6 ice cubes
                                1/2 teaspoon turmeric
                                1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon True Lemon Crystallized lemon, or 2 tablespoons lemon juice
                                1 Graham cracker, crushed

Combine all ingredients, except Graham Craker crumbs in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a cup and sprinkle the Graham cracker crumbs on top.
