Do you have a toddler or preschool-age child on your holiday shopping gift list? I think it is easy to buy Christmas gifts for the younger kids as there is so much selection of toys to choose from. It is so much fun to browse the toy sections of stores. Other people may be thinking I don't have kids or my kids are older so I have no clue what gift to buy for a little kid. The toddler age can be a hard one to shop for as you want to buy a gift or toy that is safe for the child. Also, remember that the gift that you may select has to sometimes meet the parent's expectations as new parents want the best for their little ones. So since I have raised five kids and now have a 1-year-old grandbaby, I have plenty of experience with buying and receiving gifts for kids 1 to 4 years of age. The holiday gifts on this list were selected with my granddaughter in mind. The gifts that I selected are age-appropriate for kids 1 year to about 4 years of age. I included at the end of each gift selection the age that the Christmas gift is intended for. Please keep this in mind when selecting the gift that Santa may leave under the tree as the age guidelines is not about how smart the child is but rather the safety factor as gifts for 3+ may have small parts in it that would not be safe for younger kids.

1. Moving Monkey Gears from Learning Resources

In this jungle-themed set, monkeys fly through the palm trees by their tails, then spin, twist and turn! It’s a fun way to teach engineering and spatial concepts and let the creativity flow with early STEM-supporting skills necessary to prepare children for future success.

This colorful 136-piece set features colorful plastic gears all uniform in size, connectors, crank, base plates, and monkeys. I like that it has countless ways for the child to build the set and allows the child to use their imagination. This is a learning toy that will help kids learn problem-solving and basic building skills.

Both a glove puppet and a cuddly friend. The Monkey's cymbals rattle merrily. The musical monkey puppet features a red bow tie to match his instruments and playfully fosters sound perceptions. My grandbaby had an opportunity to play with this puppet and she gave it plenty of smiles when the monkey played the cymbals. My boys also enjoyed showing the baby the dancing puppet.

3. Playmobil Advent Calendar - Christmas Ball

Advent calendars are a fun way to help kids count down the days until Christmas. The Christmas Ball advent calendar is a fun item to add to your holiday decorations. This product is meant for kids 5 and up as it has small parts but I included it in my gift guide for more of a Christmas decoration that should be placed out of the child's reach until they are older. Every day parents can help their child open up a new door to reveal lots of accessories hidden behind the 24 doors. The Playmobil set celebrates Christmas with a family a sparkling and festively-decorated crystal hall.

The Christmas Ball is one of three new PLAYMOBIL Advent Calendars!  Whether it’s the Christmas Ball, Construction Site Fire Rescue or the 1.23 Christmas in the Forest- any would be an amazing and fun way to count down the days until the Holidays!

5. Moosh-Moosh Plushy

Who can resist hugging a soft Moosh-Moosh plushy pillow? These adorable soft cuddle buddies arrived under the Christmas tree last year and were a favorite for both my tween boys and my grandbaby. This year Moosh-Moosh has added some new unique fun items to their product line of soft pillow creatures. My favorite is the Moosh-Moosh Flashlights as these are a soft way for kids to have a flashlight at night so they can easily find their way to the bathroom or use when they get scared in the middle of the night. A press of a button on the Moosh-Moosh's ear activates the flashlight.

The Moosh-Moosh Plushy Skwishys are so soft and squishy. These small ball-shaped toys are super slow rise squishy plush that you won’t be able to put down! They even have a nice scent of chocolate!

Of course, Moosh Moosh plushies still come in the original designs available in 3 different sizes and the new items also come in the original designs so kids can mix or match the plushies. Look for these new Moosh-Moosh at Staples, Walgreens and CVS stores, to name-drop a few outlets for these irresistibly soft accessories.

8. Loog Mini Guitar

The Loog Mini Guitar is an ideal first guitar for little ones. Small, fun and cute, but it's not a toy: it's a real instrument, made out of real wood, that projects a sweet, beautiful sound that's just unbelievable for a guitar of this size and price. When you get a Loog, you get more than just a guitar; you get an instrument bundled with an app that has everything you need to start playing songs: video lessons, a tuner and even a digital songbook so you can learn guitar by playing songs (Beatles, Stones, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and more).

This 3-string Loog Mini guitar comes in many colors like Red, Green, Black, Pink, White, and Yellow. This was my boy's first time playing the guitar and I enjoyed listening to them learning how to play it. The digital songbook made it easy for the boys to start playing music. Who knows maybe they might just be able to play some of dad's favorite songs that he loves to listen to on the radio.
