>U Mom Knows Best: How To Make A Fat Free Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte

How To Make A Fat Free Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte

Matcha (pronounced Ma-cha) is a form of green tea that is in a powdered form. Instead of tea, which you brew from the tea leaves, you make your matcha with green tea leaves that are in a powder form.

Iced matcha green tea lattes are a popular item at the coffee shops. I have seen a lot of people ordering these yummy green drinks. Green tea has a reputation for being a healthy drink. Green tea lattes may be good for you, but the ones at the coffee shops are usually loaded with fat and sugar.

I recently went to the website of my favorite coffee house to look at their drink menu. I was shocked to see that my favorite tall, cold green matcha drinks had 35-45 grams of sugar in them. That 35 grams of sugar is equal to about 9 teaspoons or 3 tablespoons of sugar.

I am going to show you how to make a healthy version of the cold green tea latte. This cold green tea latte tastes just as good as the ones you buy. Mine will also save you money. Once you see how easy it is to make a cold green tea latte at home, you will never pay big bucks for one at the coffee shop again.

If you have dairy issues or follow a vegan diet, then make sure to use non-dairy milk like almond milk. This drink is also great for a gluten-free diet.

  7. Looks yum! Added bonus, it is good for you. Wow, 9 teaspoons of sugar in your local coffee shops tea, yikes. I thought was going overboard with my 2 or 3 teaspoons. Thanks for sharing!

  8. Nice shots! Also please know that if you use really high quality matcha, you can get a lot of the creaminess of a latte with no milk whatsoever, just with water. The higher the quality, the better it tastes. Lattes are a good use of average (or worse) quality matcha, since the fat in the milk covers lots of sins in the taste of cheap matcha, but you'll quickly see how good matcha can be made with just water if you're using the right stuff.

Also, I would strongly advise sticking with made-in-Japan matcha. Matcha that's made in China is a risky proposition because of air, water, and soil pollution, not to mention lack of regulatory standards and lack of transparency. Products labeled "matcha" in China are often simply ground up Chinese green tea leaves; they're not shaded, nor do they go through the painstakingly detailed harvesting and processing procedures that Japanese matcha does.
