Collagen Is The Best Kept Secret To Running When You Are Older

Want to know my secret to running when you are over 50?

I received samples of collagen products from Neocell.

I am always amazed at the fact that I am still running at my age. The even more amazing part is that I have no aches or pains after I run. I hear plenty from my friends over 50 who are no longer able to run as they have knee problems or other body aches. Many of my older friends who used to run are now walking for exercise. If you are a runner and want to keep running as you get older, then start taking a collagen supplement. I discovered the benefits of collagen three years ago when I had a running injury. This injury was not due to old age but rather me overtraining and wearing the wrong shoes. I have since learned the lesson about not buying cheap running shoes and how collagen can keep my joints healthy to prevent running injuries.

BETTER RUNNING PERFORMANCE WITH COLLAGEN

Three years ago as my body was healing, I discovered the collagen is great for the joints. Collagen keeps joint cartilage healthy and allows me to keep running. Since collagen is a protein it also helps repair muscles after running. While running is fun, it can also put a strain on my older knees so taking collagen repairs the cartilage in my knees. Once in while I hear my knees clicking so I up my collagen and in a couple of days I no hear the knee clicking.

A delicious way to get my collagen

There are many collagen products out there but one of my favorite ways to get my daily collagen is a delicious pineapple chew. I call these joint bursts my "joint candy!" These yummy chews also have turmeric in them which is another great supplement for us older runners.

HEALTHY BONES AND JOINTS

As we age our we tend to lose bone mass and recent studies have shown that collagen helps with bone mass. So it is a win/win for me to take a collagen supplement for my joints and bones.

Collagen is also my beauty secret

There are different types of collagen in our body so it only makes sense to have different supplements.  I enjoy a delicious chew for my joints and another delicious chew for my skin. Did you know that our skin has collagen in it? When you give your skin some extra collagen it can rebuild and look nicer. Both of these delicious chews also have hyaluronic acid in them and that equals wonderful hydration. I think of hyaluronic acid as a drink for my skin as it has awesome hydration powers.

  11. Keeping active and taking care of yourself helps with how your body ages. Collagen is a good idea. So are vitamins and exercise. Now, I need to exercise more - but I've never been a runner and don't see it ever happening. Swimming, biking and walking are my thing.1
