Watching children carry their belongings in a trash bag or grocery sack or nothing made her sad. She knew that she had to do something. So she called on talented designers and manufacturers to create a product anyone would be proud to carry. Together with the overwhelming support and creativity from the foster care community, Cara founded My Bag My Story.

My Bag My Story has partnered with over 30 Tennessee-based organizations that work directly with children in the foster care system to get them high-quality duffel bags and backpacks. These organizations then hand out the bags to kids, so they can have something to carry their items in. It may be a simple bag to you, but to these foster kids, it is so much more.

These bags are more than just practical; they are symbols of support and recognition, affirming the inherent value and worth of every child in the foster care system. These bags help foster children feel seen and valued.
