 Parenting seems to be one of those things people talk about like you’re just meant to manage it, and you’re meant to know exactly what you’re doing, stay calm, keep everyone fed, get through the day, and somehow not feel overwhelmed by any of it. And if you’re finding it hard, it might even start to feel like you’re doing something wrong. 

The truth is, you’re not, and on top of that, everyone finds parenting hard, they just don’t tend to admit it. That’s why parenting isn’t something you can do without help, so keep reading to find out more.

It Was Never Meant To Be A Solo Job 

 If you think about it, children were always raised with other people around, like friends, family, neighbours, and the wider community. In other words, there was usually someone else to step in, even if it was just for an hour, or just to have a chat, and so on. 

 Now, a lot of parents are going it all without so much support, so it’s no wonder it all feels a lot more difficult and stressful. 

Help Doesn’t Mean You’re Not Coping 

 A lot of parents actually feel guilty about needing help because they think it shows they’re not good parents or they’re not coping the same as everyone else seems to be, so they don’t ask for any help, and everything just gets harder and harder and less and less enjoyable. 

 As we’ve said, needing help is totally normal, especially when you consider that parenting is full-on and constant, and there aren’t really any days off. And some days are just hard, even if you love your kids more than anything. So the fact is, getting support doesn’t mean you’ve failed; it means you’re doing the right thing for you and your family. 

Support Can Be Small

 Help doesn’t always have to be something big, and it could be something as small as just having someone watch your baby while you take a shower, or having a text conversation with a friend. It could also be talking to a professional if things feel too much - it’s basically whatever you need.

You Don’t Have To Carry Everything

My first impressions of the Edifier NeoBuds Planar Wireless Earbuds

A couple of days later, the Edifier NeoBuds Planar Wireless Earbuds arrived at my home. I was excited to check them out. Here are the features that I tested:

Comfort Test

 I opened up the small box that held the earbuds and took the right earbud out to perform the comfort test. I placed the right earbud in my ear, and it felt good. The earpiece felt comfortably snug in my ear, and I liked how the end piece positioned over my ear lobe. I shook my head, and the earbuds did not move. I had no concerns about them falling out of my ear. Nor did I feel a need to keep pushing it back into my ear. These would be great for running.

Connecting the earbuds to my device

It was super easy to pair the earbuds to my phone. I pressed a button on the charging case, and immediately a screen showed up on my phone with a prompt to pair. I touch the screen, and the earbuds were paired to my phone. There was no prompt to turn on my Bluetooth, as the earbuds took care of that. 

Sound test

With just the right earbud in my right ear, I went to my favorite music app to listen to some tunes. The sound of the Neobuds was louder than my other earbuds, and I had to turn down the volume. My music sounded good. Then I placed the left earbud into my left ear. I had to see if I was able to enjoy listening to my music with both earbuds in my ears. I had to see if it sounded like I was underwater.

I was amazed to say, this is the first pair of earbuds that I have tried that don't give me the underwater feel and sound. I have reviewed many earbuds that had the underwater issue and passed them on to my teen boys.

I won't be letting my boys know about the Edifier NeoBuds Planar Wireless Earbuds. They passed the underwater test, and I am keeping them.

Noise Cancelling

 I usually don't test the noise-cancelling feature on Bluetooth earbuds, due to my underwater issue with other earbuds. Since the Edifier passed that test with flying colors, I was excited to test the noise-cancelling feature. On the app, it was super easy to switch to noise-cancelling. 

I was amazed at how I was not able to hear any background noise. My husband was listening to music in another room, and I could not hear his music. I am super excited to use these earbuds on an airline trip that I have scheduled in two weeks. No longer do I have to turn up my volume to drown out other sounds while watching a movie. The best part is I won't hear other people on the plane, and that will help with my anxiety.

Adjusting the volume on the earbuds

There was a press feature on the bottom of each earbud to adjust the volume. This button also turned the music on and off. It also allowed you to skip through song tracks.

Battery charging and life

 I love that the earbud case can be charged on a wireless charger and through a usb cord. The battery life is awesome. I typically listen to music for 7 hours a week, which means I only have to charge the earbuds once a month.

App features

The Edifier app had some cool features. From adjusting the volume to fine-tuning the sound in each earbud. My favorite feature was changing the color of the light on the charging case. 

Wear Detection

 The wear detection feature automatically paused the music if I removed an earbud and resumed playing once I placed the earbud back into my ear. Now I can talk to people at the gym without losing my music.

Water and sweat resistant

Perfect for days when I run through sprinklers on a hot day.

I will be keeping the Edifier NeoBuds Planar Wireless Earbuds

 I am picky when it comes to certain features on wireless earbuds, and I am happy to say that the Edifier NeoBuds Planar Wireless Earbuds met all my needs. From comfort to no underwater feeling, the earbuds delivered. The noise-cancelling feature is my favorite part of these earbuds.

Proyecto Diaz Coffee ~ A Family Rooted In Coffee

Where do you fall among these coffee drinker groups? I am coffee group #2. I love the taste of coffee and drink it for the health benefits. I select my coffee beans based on the coffee notes and where the coffee beans are grown. I make my coffee at home with the pour-over method and drink it slowly to experience the flavor.

Proyecto Diaz Coffee ~ Caffeinate With Purpose

 Last month at the Winter Fancy Fair Show, I discovered a coffee brand that comes from a family that is rooted in coffee. Proyecto Diaz Coffee may have been founded in 2014, but its legacy really began over a 100 years ago. 

 saw the dedication and love that his grandfather had for his coffee farm and wanted to help him be successful. He wanted others to experience a great cup of coffee.

The story of Proyecto Diaz Coffee

The Proyecto Diaz Coffee story is one of passion and purpose. It is one that I enjoyed learning about. 

 We’re a family rooted in coffee. Our legacy begins in the early 1900’s when the Diaz family began growing coffee in the lush mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. As the years went on, the estate was divided up and passed to the great-grandfather’s children. One of those children is our grandfather, Juan Leovigildo Diaz. Grandfather cultivated coffee on his farm, EL CARMEN, for over 70 years and passed on his love and dedication to his sons and grandchildren.  EL CARMEN, our family farm, is where our legacy continues.  

 Initially, we saw the dedication and blind love that Grandfather had for his farm and the coffee it produced, no matter how much effort and loss it took to produce the crop.  We learned quickly that due to various environmental, economic, and cultural issues that confront the modern farmer, coffee agriculture isn’t a sustainable livelihood for a small producer such as our grandfather. Unfortunately, this is a story shared by many around the world. 

And so, in 2014, we set out to make coffee farming a viable livelihood for our grandfather and others like him. We started by putting 10% of our profit back into the farm in the hopes of rebuilding both grandfather’s farm and the Diaz legacy, creating a direct bridge between coffee producer and coffee drinker. 

 We now source and roast from various farms and farmers across Latin America who share a very similar story to ours. Our mission remains the same: to rebuild and revitalize farms and legacies. We continue to use 10% of profit for rebuilding projects on our farm, as well as at partner farms/communities.

My experience with Proyecto Diaz coffee

My experience with Proyecto Diaz Coffee started in San Diego at the Fancy Fair Food Expo. Their brightly colored coffee packages caught my attention and made me stop to learn more. My learning journey started with a taste of their coffee and ended with a couple of packages of Proyecto Diaz coffee sent to my home.

 This was no ordinary coffee; it was coffee with a love story. I loved learning about how every aspect of the cup of coffee that I was drinking was family-rooted. From the growing of the coffee beans to the roasting to the selling of the coffee, everything was done by one family. 

The grandfather, Juan Leovigildo Diaz, cultivates the coffee on his farm in Mexico. He then sends the coffee beans to his grandson, Fernando Diaz Mendoza, who lives in the Bay Area of California. Fernando roasts the coffee beans at his coffee roasting company. Then the coffee is sold in family-owned cafes in West Oakland.

I love that Proyecto Diaz roasts coffee beans from various farms and farmers across Latin America who share a very similar story. 

I was sent two different packages of whole bean single-origin coffee:

  ~ FINCA WILMA - From La Paz, Bolivia. A medium roast with notes of cranberry, brandy, and almond butter.

  ~ MAYAN HARVEST - From Chiapas, Mexico. A dark roast with notes of black cherry, burnt caramel, and cacao.

 I had a hard time deciding which whole bean coffee to grind and roast first. They both had exciting coffee notes. My first cup of coffee was the MAYAN HARVEST, and it was good. I could taste the flavorful notes of black cherry encased in the burnt caramel cacao. It reminded me of a chocolate-covered cherry.

Each sip of the coffee had me saying mmm, this is good coffee. You will love the taste of this rich coffee.

 My next cup of coffee was the FINCA WILMA. My first sip had me tasting notes of cranberry, followed by almond butter. Since I have never tasted brandy, this one was hard for me to detect in the coffee notes. 

One thing that made these coffees special to me was how quickly I was able to taste the coffee notes. If you have a hard time tasting the flavor notes of coffee, you need to try Proyecto Diaz coffee. It will have you enjoying every sip.

PuraSoda ~ The Better Alternative To Sugary Drinks

 There were also plenty of drinks to sample. From coffee to sodas from Hawaii, one drink caught my attention. Purasoda was a drink that I really enjoyed. This was a better-for-you soda that came in many delicious flavors. After trying every flavor of Pura, there was not a flavor that I disliked. 

 After much sampling of Pura Soda, I had a nice conversation with the brand rep and learned more about this better soda drink. It starts out as an innocent conversation with a boy. These girls are lured into this world through people who are trained to put on the charm, and the young girls have no clue what is happening.
