Who remembers when Amazon started its online shopping website? While I am not sure of the exact year and date, I do remember the early days of Amazon shopping.
It was around the year 1999 that I first shopped at Amazon. My third son was a newborn, and I needed to buy a new baby swing for him. His hand me down wind up swing broke after being used for my other two kids, who were 9 and 5 years old.
I was unable to find this type of baby swing in local stores, as all they had were battery-operated swings. So I learned how to shop online. I am not sure if Amazon had opened up its website at this time, but it was my first time shopping online.
Once I learned how easy it was to have a baby swing delivered to my home, I was hooked on online shopping and browsing. Several weeks or maybe months later, I remember discovering an online deal on Amazon for a $200 gift card to Amazon.
Since Amazon was so new, they did not offer much more than books and a small selection of other items. Searching for items to buy on Amazon was difficult back then, and I did not know what to buy. One of the items I remember buying was a snow cone maker for my older kids.
What Memories do you have of your first time shopping on Amazon?
If you are over 40, you may have memories of shopping on Amazon when it first opened. If you are younger, you may have different memories of your first time shopping on Amazon. If you are in college, like my boys, you grew up with regular Amazon deliveries.\
Whatever your Amazon memories are, we all love shopping on Amazon. From having most everything product you need to fast deliveries, it is hard to think living without Amazon. So I would love to hear your memories of Amazon shopping in the early days.

I remember buying books on Amazon way back. I bought a book about my college and actually found a picture of myself on one of the pages.
just recently started using amazon so no old memories
I joined shortly after getting internet for the first time in 99. I was able to find books and pasta I couldn't get in store.
My favorite memory is learning that I could purchase flour from Italy off of Amazon. Our local Walmart stopped carrying what I used to buy.
