Natural Ways To Treat Acne And A Giveaway

"These opinions are mine and I received products from Earth's Care to facilitate this post."

Looking for an effective but natural way to treat acne?

No one likes pimples on their face, well maybe my 9-year-old who thinks he has pimples (just has a couple of moles on his face), and keeps asking me if he has pimples. He won't think that way when he is a teenager, just ask his 16-year-old brother how he feels about pimples. My teen hates that he gets pimples on his face and he does everything he can to take care of them. My teen showers every night and uses his cream that the doctor prescribed but he still has plenty of zits. He even uses a mud mask once in a while that his girlfriend told him to use. My teen thinks his acne is caused by all his sweating from sports but unfortunately, it is probably just those dumb teen hormones. My teen is desperate to get rid of his zits and is ready to see if natural things might help his face. I don't like my son using chemical products anyway.

My teen has recently started taking a daily probiotic and his face has fewer pimples. So he is treating the rest of those bad boys with a natural acne treatment mask and spot treatment. Earth's Care sent us two products to try out. One is a face mask and the other a spot treatment. I like that it has natural sulfur in it instead of harsh chemicals that tend to bleach or dry out the skin. I remember one acne face wash that my son used a while back and it bleached my brand new towel, that one went in the trash. I like that Earth's Care makes products  are made with natural ingredients that work just as well as other over-the-counter products. Look at all the things you won't find in their products.

No Animal Testing
No Parabens
No Artificial Colors or Fragrances
No Petrolatum
No Phthalates
Non-Comedogenic (will not clog pores)

So how can this natural product treat those pimples? Earth's Care Acne Spot treatment and Acne Treatment Mask utilize sulfur to clear stubborn blemishes, pimples, and breakouts. The sulfur penetrates the pores and dries and clears the pimples and blackheads. It also helps to keep new pimples and blackheads from forming.

The mask is easy to apply and only requires 10 minutes to dry. The sulfur smell is not bad either. My son of coursed whine about having to wait the ten minutes but I told him to apply it and then get his things ready for bed. I had him set a timer and it rang before he was done. So then he hopped into the shower to rinse it off. The spot treatment is great for those time when you only have a couple of blemishes as you apply it just on the zits. Then you let it dry for 10 minutes and rinse off. I might just use the spot treatment when I get those monthly 1 or 2 zits. I liked that these products did not irritate my skin like the chemical ones I used when I was younger. I once had a bad reaction to benzoyl peroxide that led to me discovering that allergy.  So now I am very careful with what I use on my skin.

Southwest Chicken Breakfast Burrito

The 2016 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is almost here!

The Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque is a special event that happens every October. It is a family tradition to see the hot air balloons every year. This is an event that features over 500 hot air balloons. My family gets excited to see all these balloons in the sky. Now to be able to see all these balloons go up in the air, we have to get up way early in the morning. So early that the sun has not come up. I am not a morning person but the Balloon Fiesta is so worth getting up early. Another tradition that my family has with the Balloon Fiesta is eating a breakfast burrito along with a hot cup of coffee. Breakfast burritos are a staple food here in Albuquerque and there are plenty of booths at the Fiesta that sell this spicy delicious burrito. Now this is not your typical burrito, this is a burrito that is loaded with eggs, potatoes, cheese, bacon, and green chile. This is no wimpy burrito either as it not only big in size but also spicy with the heat of green chile. New Mexico is famous for their green chile as it is grown here in Hatch, New Mexico. People here love green chile so much that they buy several bags of green chile every year. Fresh Hatch green chile is only available in August and September. All the grocery stores sell big bags of green chile. The stores even roast the green chile too. Find out more about green chile HERE.

The lines at the breakfast burrito booths are always super long so I usually make our burritos at home as i can make my burritos healthier and I don't like standing in the long lines. I make them the night before and warm them up in the morning so we can enjoy them while we watch the balloons go up at the Fiesta. I also like making them at home so I can add the ingredients that I enjoy. I can also customize them to everyone's preference. The younger boys have not acquired their taste buds for spicy foods so I make their burritos without the green chile. I also try to make my burritos healthier so I use brown rice and chicken instead of the greasy potatoes and bacon. Now I don't use just any old chicken I use this flavorful chicken sausage from al fresco. This chicken sausage is pre-cooked so that saves me time in the kitchen and it comes in many wonderful flavors. My husband's favorite flavor is Roasted Pepper and Asiago.I just chop the al fresco sausage into pieces and place them in my burritos. I also use  Minute Whole Grain Brown Rice as it cooks up quickly. My burritos are healthier with these ingredients and still flavorful and spicy.

                                        Southwest Chicken Breakfast Burrito

                                   INGREDIENTS
                                        makes 4-6 burritos
2 cups uncooked Minute Whole Grain Brown Rice
                              1 3/4  cups water
                              6 eggs beaten
                              1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 package al fresco chicken sausage, chopped into small pieces
                              1/2 cup chopped green chile
                              1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
                              4-6  burrito size flour tortillas

Place the Minute Whole Grain Brown Rice and water in a pan and cook following directions on the package. While the rice is cooking heat up a large frying pan on medium-high. Add the oil and eggs and scramble to desired doneness. Set the cooked eggs aside until the rice is done. Lay a tortilla on a plate and top with desired amounts of rice, scrambled eggs, green chile, chicken, and cheese. Make sure to place the ingredients evenly down the center of the tortilla so there is plenty of room to roll the tortilla. Fold in opposite sides of each tortilla, then roll up burrito-style. You can enjoy this breakfast burrito right away, by heating up each one for 30 seconds in the microwave, or wrap them in foil to heat up later. I like to wrap my breakfast burritos in plastic wrap so I can heat them in the microwave in the morning for about 1 minute. I then wrap the burritos in foil so they stay warm to enjoy at the Balloon Fiesta. If there are any extra ingredients left over, just place them in the fridge so you can use them another day to make a burrito.

Teaching Kids Science & Math Through Gardening

Most kids, including mine, don't know how food is grown.

My kids don't like eating vegetables. I decided that maybe teaching them about how vegetables are grown might entice them to try eating vegetables. The teacher in me decided to turn the vegetable growing into a science and math lesson. I started by purchasing vegetable seeds. I decided to shop for my seeds on Amazon as I always have Amazon money to spend and they have unique items too. I found a cute organic vegetable seed kit  and it was perfect for our garden growing.  I liked how the box had ten different varieties of vegetable seeds in one box. My boys enjoyed looking at the seed containers and discovering new vegetables. This box of seed had some unique varieties of vegetables, many that I had never heard of like Red Burgundy Onion and Long Purple Eggplant. I was getting hungry just looking at the containers.

Our first math lesson started with arranging the seeds by size. My boys were amazed at how small some of the seeds were. The Tender Sweet Carrot seeds were very small in size while the Golden Beauty Corn seeds were very big. I then had my boys write the name of the seeds on a piece of paper and had them count how many seeds were in each container. They then wrote the numbers next to each seed name. The corn seed container only had 3 big seeds while the Brandywine Tomato seed had a bunch. It was cool to see how each seed looked.

Next, it was time for some research on the computer to learn more about each type of seed. I had my boys look up how much spacing each type of seed needed.  My boys also looked up online how many days each seed needed to grow into a vegetable. They wrote all this info down next to the seed name.

We were finally ready to plant the seeds in soil. We decided to start the seeds in cups indoors and then replant outside once they were bigger. My boys enjoyed playing in the dirt and filled the cups up. I am glad we did that outside as they made quite the mess with the dirt. We placed the cups of seed and soil on the table near the window with the best sun and I put my boys in charge of watering. I told my boys that the seeds only need a little bit of water each day and gave them small cups to use. Those dosage cups that come with children's medicines are perfect for the plant watering.

The hardest part of growing vegetables was waiting for them to grow. My boys found the perfect story to read at bedtime to help with that. This book tells a story about 2 kids who grow vegetables. My boys just love the pictures of the vegetables in the story. The story made them excited and they could not wait to taste their vegetables.

This organic vegetable seed kit  was the perfect gift for my boys to learn more about vegetables and how they grow. I am just hoping that our seeds will grow into plants that we can plant outside and grow into delicious  veggies that my boys will eat. As long as my boys are in charge of the watering it might just happen. I am not allowed to water plants as I have killed even cactus plants.

You can find this unique seed it at Amazon and it is the perfect price for gift giving. I might just have to buy one for my friend who loves to garden for a Christmas gift. This might even make a great teacher gift.
Who do you know that would love to receive this vegetable seed kit?
