Start the party with this great tasting coffee!
My husband took a trip to New Orleans last month for a work conference. This trip was supposed to be a ten-day trip for my husband but was cut short to a five-day trip. My husband was so disappointed when his stay there was cut short due to the government shut down. That meant no good New Orleans food for him. My husband was expecting ten days of good eating but only got three days as the city was also on a boil water order due to water problems from the severe cold weather that the city also had. The restaurants were still open but my husband, being a health inspector, was not taking chances at food poisoning. The whole trip was not a bust for my husband as he did get a chance to purchase a Kings Cake. When my husband showed me the delicious King Cake, I knew that this would taste great with a great cup of coffee.
The only coffee that is good enough for my first taste of a King Cake is my favorite coffee: Community© Coffee Mardi Gras King Cake coffee. I have heard about this traditional Mardi Gras sweet cake that has a plastic baby in it but never tasted it before so I was excited to enjoy it with my favorite Mardi Gras coffee. This coffee has flavors of vanilla and cinnamon and reminds me of the sweet King Cake that my husband brought home. This coffee smells like a cake baking!
The one thing NOLA is known for beyond their food is knowing how to party. Did you know that their biggest celebration Mardi Gras actually starts in January? Called the "Carnivale" season, it officially begins each year on January 6. This Feast of the Epiphany, 'King's Day', starts with traditional balls occurring in the weeks that lead up to the big event- Mardi Gras. The people of NOLA love to celebrate weekly with the delicious King Cake. This is a traditional sweet cake that has a plastic baby(the King) in it and whoever finds the baby has to bring the next cake the following week.
Have you tasted a King Cake or visited New Orleans during Mardi Gras?
