Between Borders Is About A Family Facing Discrimination ~ Giveaway

This film stars Elizabeth Tabish from The Chosen & Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost & The Santa Clause movies!

Many thanks to Pinnacle Peak Pictures for providing a sample of the product for this review. Opinions are 100% my own.

To think that discrimination happens simply because of your heritage is wrong! God tells us to love one another but the movie Between Borders shows how people can be filled with hate toward another person simply because of their nationality. It is a shocking story about a family who had to leave their home, to avoid death, to become refugees in a country that did not want them there.

About Between Borders

In a crumbling Soviet Union, the Petrosyan family are outcasts—wherever they go. Armenian heritage marks them for discrimination both at home in Azerbaijan and in Russia. Based on a riveting true story of faith and hope set amidst great oppression … in the shadow of exile, hope became their home.

The Petrosyan family had a nice home and good jobs in Azerbaijan but they had to leave all that behind when the leaders of their country wanted to kill them, simply because of their heritage. This family fled to Russia seeking protection only to face more hatred due to the fact they were of Armenian heritage.

The Petrosyan family tried to survive living in Russia but endured many hardships. From living in a rundown one-room apartment to taking jobs that paid little money all the way to people torturing them, this family suffered tremendously.

It was the kindness of a local church, that helped this family find hope and love. The local church in Russia was founded by a church in America with a mission to help the refugees. This church shared the love of Jesus and helped the family find peace and a new home.

What Church Leaders Are Saying About Between Borders

“BETWEEN BORDERS is a powerfully moving account of a family who suffered rejection, persecution, and exclusion before finding their home and hope in Jesus and His church. It is a compelling reminder of the impact we as Christ-followers can make in loving and accepting those who have been discarded and mistreated by others—as truly valued and loved by God and His family.”

Rev. Jim Ritchie, Nazarene Global Missions Director

This movie will open your eyes and heart toward refugees

Watching the movie Between Borders taught me many things. It helped me understand why a person or family chooses to flee from their country. It showed me that for many is about leaving a place that they used to call home but now endangers their lives.

This movie helped me to remember that I need to change my attitude and heart towards immigrants. The media may show the ones who commit crimes but there are many who are escaping oppression. Like many people who live in America, most of us have ancestors who came here seeking a better life due to similar circumstances.

We need to remember the words written on the Statue of Liberty

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

We need to share the love of Jesus

We as Christ's followers need to remember the grace of God that was extended to us and in turn share His love with others. Like the church that helped the Petrosyan family find peace in America, we too need to help others who are going through tough times.

I urge you to watch this movie and learn from it.

I can help refugees by donating money but also comfort items such as blankets, clothing and personal hygiene products.

I also believe donating money, or clothing or anything useful. That should help the refugees. From Maryann D. twinkle at optonline dot net

I need to watch this. It seems the us could remember the lesson--it's sad how many want to kick out people who come in for help.

We have participated in a clothing and linens drive for refugees near us. Just being loving to them when they seek community and assistance is definitely a start - I've seen far too many people being treated unkindly because of where they are from.

Sounds like a great movie. We don't live in an area where help like that usually happens. Prayer is always a good thing to do, though.

I would really love to see this. I have several really close friends who are immigrants. I think by raising awareness, donating and volunteering is a great way to start to help refugees. It means more to them than we realize.

We can help a refugee the most I think by befriending them and showing them compassion. They know nothing of our country. We should lend a hand and help them to be aquainted.

By donating food or $$ through reputable charities

I could donate to reputable humanitarian organizations that provide direct assistance to refugees, such as the International Rescue Committee or the UNHCR. Additionally, keep donating extra supplies to have sent to those in need.
