What is this beauty tool and what does it do? These are the questions that I had when Derma Roller asked me to review their product. I was intrigued at what this tool could do for me and my face. I was also a little apprehensive at using it on my face as it had a bunch of needles on it. I just had to try it and see how it could help me.
So the answer to my first question:
What is the Derma Roller System?
"The Derma Roller (a.k.a. skin roller or micro-needle roller) is a revolutionary hand-held device which has the ability to naturally stimulate collagen and elastin in the skin to promote healthier skin cells in the body. Using 200 extremely fine medical-grade needles, the Derma Roller painlessly creates micro-channels in your skin which trigger the body's natural healing process to create new, healthier tissue to replace the imperfections of older skin. By renewing your skin cells regularly, you will be able to treat common problems we experience as we age such as wrinkles, skin hyper-pigmentation, scars (including acne scars), uneven skin, stretch marks (usually developed after pregnancy), hair loss or it can simply be used to create smoother skin."
How does the Derma Roller Work?
"In order for our skin to have a smooth and healthy glow, it must continually be replenished with new cells. The Derma Roller System renews your skin cells from the inside out by using Collagen Induction Therapy (C.I.T.). This is a process where the Derma Rollers' 200 fine medical-grade needles are rolled over your skin to cause pores in your skin to open temporarily. While your pores are opened, it triggers your body's natural healing process to heal the pores thereby stimulating collagen and elastin production. The production of collagen and elastin helps to thicken the skin, smooth away fine lines and wrinkles and rid the skin of hyper-pigmentations. When the Derma Roller is applied simultaneously with the application of nourishing creams, your skins absorption of vitamins, enzymes, lipids and other nourishing ingredients are greatly enhanced. In approximately one to two hours after the application of the Derma Roller, these micro-channels fully close through the body's natural healing process, providing just enough time for new collagen structures to form within the skin's lower layers, but short enough recovery time to ensure the resumption of your normal schedule. By continuously triggering the body's natural healing process this way, your skin constantly stimulates collagen and elastin production needed to help restore and remodel your skin on a cosmetic level."
I have fine lines and acne scars on my face that I would like to be gone, so I had to try this Roller thing and see if it works.
The company asked me what size of needle I want to use as each size treats different areas. I choose the smallest needle lengths of 0.5mm as that was best to treat the fine lines I had. The Derma Roller came with instructions on how to use it which told me to gently roll the needles several times over the skin I wanted to treat. Did it hurt? The needles just felt like a little scratch on my face. I recommend using the roller at night followed by lotion as it does make your skin slightly red, but the redness on my face was gone by morning.
So does it work?
I have been using the Derma roller for about a week and have noticed that my skin feels a little smoother but the lines and scars are still there. The website says it can take take time to see results. I guess I will have to use it more to see results. They do have a 60-day money back guaranteed for those who want to try it.

I'd never thought of a derma roller for fine lines. Looks like a great product!
I have used one of these before, but I guess my skin is just too sensitive. Most people say that it works great!! Hope it does what you are wanting in the next few months! :)
I tried one of these on my face. I think it more helps with opening the pores of the skin to accept the moisturizer to reduce wrinkles.
I have a derma roller. I love it. It does help increase collagen and helps lotions absorb into the skin better.
I might need to give this a try. I have acne scars that I would love to get rid of. I finally got my acne under control. Wahoo!!!
Interesting! At 50, I, too, have various lines I'd love to erase. This sounds like a good thing to try.
I've always wanted to try one of these. Thanks for the info..
I would use a small needle or one for a beginner since I think my skin would be sensitive to it. Most seem to love it but it can leave your skin read for a while if you're really sensitive. I'd do a patch test first myself, to be on the safe side.
Nice article dear.
Thanks for sharing.
