Hen in a Hurry Chef Prepared Meal Box Review

I like getting food delivered to my home

I received 4 meals from Hen in a Hurry to facilitate this post.

Most days my life can get crazy and it is hard to get dinner on the table so we have what is called fend for yourself night. Then there are the nights when I just don't feel like cooking as I am not hungry as I ate a late lunch. So I like having meals that I can pull out of the freezer that makes cooking dinner easy and fast. So when I was asked to try Hen in a Hurry, I was excited. That way I had a couple nights off from cooking. The meal service had an awesome selection of healthy meals to choose from. I liked that these meals were chef-prepared meals and made with clean, sustainably sourced, responsibly raised ingredients from our trusted farmers and purveyors.

No Waste. No Prep. No Preservatives. Just heat and enjoy!

I liked the sound of heat and eat. It was also great that the meals had no preservatives in them. Unlike other meal subscriptions that I have tried, these meals were ready to eat, no having to prep my food. I was able to select my meals by ingredients and I liked that because of my food allergies. I loved that I was able to choose vegetarian and vegan meals. Hen in a Hurry also had Paleo, gluten-free, and Keto meals. While there were many meals to choose from, I was disappointed that there was only one dairy free, vegan meal and the bad part was that this meal had tofu in it. I have soy and dairy allergies so buying prepared meals can be tough. So I selected meals that I knew that my family would enjoy and some of them had veggies that I could enjoy.

The meals came in a huge cooler

The meals arrive at my house in a big styrofoam cooler. They were still frozen as the cooler had plenty of dry ice in it. The meals that I selected were

+ Bourbon Braised Pork Belly with Stone Ground Grits
+ Cheddar and Chicken Enchiladas with Creamed Corn
+ Shrimp and Quinoa “Grits” with Buttered Brussels
+ Whole Grain Hash with Tofu with Grilled Green Beans

I decide to heat up the Shrimp and Quinoa “Grits” with Buttered Brussels for dinner as I do love shrimp. I thought that I could at least enjoy the shrimp and the Brussel Sprouts. The Butter Brussels were cooked in coconut oil and not butter so that was a plus for me. I liked that the packages listed all the ingredients so I could know which ones had dairy and soy in them. It only took 8 minutes to cook the meals in the microwave. Once they were done, I had to taste. I like that the Brussels were lightly seasoned and not mushy. The shrimp was also delicious.

My family is excited to try out the rest of the meals, especially the Bourbon Braised Pork Belly. I will be making this one this weekend when the teenager comes home for fall break. The rest of the meals will be enjoyed later in the week. I will update this post after they eat those meals. My family likes that there are delicious chef-prepared meals in the freezer so they can quickly heat them up for dinner. Hen in a Hurry meal service has a huge selection of meals that can fit almost any diet. For a limited time, you can save money on these delicious meals also. Just click on the below link.
