Elderberry Cold & Flu Fighting Gummies

Black elderberry is a powerful immune support supplement. While you can purchase black elderberry syrup, this recipe for homemade elderberry gummies is simple to make. This is an easy and delicious way to get immune-boosting elderberry into kids!

This cold season has been brutal. The news keeps talking about how many flu cases have been reported and it has been a high number. It also seems that a bad cold virus is going around too. My boys thankfully have not come down with the flu but they did battle that nasty cold that came with a lingering cough. When my boys are sick I like to give them homemade natural immune support remedies to help them heal quickly. One of their favorite immune-boosting remedies is elderberry gummies.

These delicious homemade gummies are made with elderberry syrup.  Black elderberry is a powerful immune-boosting berry that helps the body's immune system. This superfood berry helped my boys recover quickly from their cold.

What Are Black Elderberries & What Benefits Do They Carry?

Black elderberries are a great way to help support your immune system. These berries contain vitamins C, E, and A, and are packed with more free-radical-fighting antioxidants than cranberries, blueberries, and pomegranates.

These dried berries are naturally high in immune-boosting compounds that are specifically shown to help one beat the cold and flu more quickly. While elderberry is great for when you are sick, it can be used when you are not sick for extra immune protection.

Dried black elderberry can be made into syrup but my boys prefer the black elderberry gummies. These gummies are a less messy way of giving my boys elderberry syrup. When elderberry is in a gummy form, I don't have the mess of pouring the syrup into a dosage cup.

Elderberry Cold & Flu Fighting Gummies
Ingredients
1 cup elderberry syrup (Check out my homemade recipe)
1/2 cup very hot water (almost boiling)
1/4 cup Gelatin powder (I use this one)
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil for greasing pan
Glass pan

Instructions
Grease the glass pan with coconut oil to prevent sticking.
Place 1/4 cup of cooled elderberry syrup in a 2-cup measuring cup and add gelatin powder.
Quickly whisk together to temper the gelatin powder.
Add the ½ cup of hot (not boiling) water and stir quickly until smooth.
Add the rest of the elderberry syrup and stir or whisk until completely smooth.
Pour into the pan and put in the fridge for 2 hours or until completely firm.
Cut the gummies into 30 small squares and store them in an airtight container with parchment paper between layers.

Take 1 gummy daily as needed to avoid flu or take 1 every few hours to help beat the flu faster.
These gummies will last up to a week in the fridge in an airtight container.

Well I did manage to get the flu and once you get it, you can't run around looking for stuff like this that you need. Far better to be prepared ahead of time - wish I had this at that time.
