 They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So fuel your body with these delicious healthy breakfast items. 


 Eating breakfast should be a part of your healthy meal plan. Your body has been without food for at least 8 hours, so it needs the fuel from food to get going again. Think of your body like a car. You can't drive a car that has no gas in the tank, so don't expect your body to function without food. Your body needs healthy food to run properly, so it is important to eat a breakfast that contains protein, carbs, vitamins, and minerals.

 When you choose to skip breakfast, that can lead to unhealthy actions later in the day. If you start your day without breakfast, that may lead to overeating at lunch or making unhealthy food choices, as your body is starving and probably not thinking straight. Yes, your brain and mind need the nutrients from food to think. That is why a healthy breakfast is so important for kids who go to school. A breakfast that is loaded with no nutrition or no breakfast at all can make it hard for kids to concentrate at school.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day

 I just can't understand people who don't eat breakfast. I wake up hungry and would not be able to focus on anything if I skipped the first meal of the day. My mind would focus on the hunger pains from an empty stomach. So I always start my weekday with a smoothie that is made with plenty of protein, fruit, and superfoods. My weekend breakfast is usually Dairy Free Vegan Chocolate Protein Pancakes with fruit or oatmeal topped with eggs, vegetables, and avocado.

 My youngest son loves making pancakes for breakfast. When he makes homemade pancakes, he adds a couple of scoops of protein powder to the pancake mix. While the protein powder gives the pancakes plenty of protein, the pancakes don't always have a good texture as he forgets to add more water to the pancake batter. So I was excited to discover a pancake mix that has plenty of protein.


 This all-natural pancake mix from Happy Day Brands contains healthy whole-grain ingredients and 15 grams of protein per serving. The pancakes are also low in sugar with just 4 grams of sugar per serving. The healthy pancake mix creates pancakes that cook up just like other pancake mixes. Dairy-Free Vegetarian Chocolate Protein Pancakes
Serves 4, makes about 8-10 pancakes
Ingredients:

1 cup whole wheat flour
4 scoops of Nuzest Rich Chocolate Clean Lean Protein Powder
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 1/4 cups cashew or almond milk
3 tbsp maple syrup
2 egg substitute 
Coconut oil for the skillet

Directions:

1. Mix together the first six dry ingredients.
2. Add the remaining three wet ingredients and stir together until combined.
3. Place a bit of coconut oil into a skillet and pour about 1/3 cup of batter for each pancake.
4. Cook each pancake for about 1-2 minutes on each side. Serve with fresh fruits like bananas or strawberries.

 These pancakes freeze well and can be heated up in the microwave for a quick breakfast. They are also great for after-school snacks.
