Healthy Snacks For A Healthy New Year

Are you a snacker?

      I received samples of healthy snacks to facilitate this post.

  I don't know about you but I am a huge snacker. I snack all day long. I think one of the perks of working from home is being able to eat when I am hungry and not when the clock tells me. I think when I have to wait to eat, I am so hungry that I tend to eat more. So I think snacking just works better for me. So since I tend to snack way too much, I make sure that the snacks that I am munching on are ones that are healthy and have awesome nutrition in them. Having a son who is underweight and a picky eater has taught me to make every calorie count. Having healthy snacks are also great for those busy days when I have a lot of work and don't have time to cook a meal. My husband can tell how busy my day was just by looking at all the wrappers around my work area. I also find that snacks that are loaded with nutrition also do a better job of satisfying your hunger and keep you full longer, especially if they have fiber in them. When done right, healthy snacks will not cause you to gain weight as they are keeping your hunger at bay so you are not starving by meal time. So replace those unhealthy snacks with healthy ones

Tasty snacks that I am discovering

  I am always looking for delicious snacks to keep in my pantry so I can grab them while I am working. So I am always excited when companies want to send me their products. That way I can try them and let you know about them so you can learn if they are a snack that you might just enjoy. So below are some recent healthy snacks that I have tried.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vegan Jerky
 I had no idea that vegan jerky was a thing. I am not a big fan of real jerky as it is made from meat but I do like the chewiness of jerky. So when I discovered a jerky made from mushrooms, I just had to try it! The flavors sounded amazing and I love mushrooms. So when I took a bite of the original Mushroom Jerky, I said to my husband, "these are way better than meat jerky!" What I love about Pan's Mushroom Jerky is that each package has two servings in it so if you do eat the whole bag, you are only consuming 250 calories and mushrooms are healthy! These tasty and chewy mushroom jerky bites have 7 grams of fiber per serving and do a great job of satisfying my salty/savory cravings. The Mushroom Jerky is also soy free and gluten free!
Grain Free Granola
  I love granola and most granola is not very healthy as it is loaded with too many calories and sugar. So I was happy to discover a grain-free granola that is made from nuts, seeds, and coconut. The best part is it tastes like granola as it has a wonderful crunch to it. My favorite flavor Chocolate Chunk is even dairy-free! This delicious grain-free granola from GrandyOats is awesome right out of the bag or sprinkled over yogurt. It comes in many yummy flavors and is also organic and non-GMO. I love that the healthier granola is made in a solar-powered facility that generates more than 95,000 kWh of clean, renewable energy on an annual basis.
Two-Ingredient Vegetable Snacks
We all know that veggies are good for us but sometimes they are plain boring or take way to long to chew. So these crunchy baked veggie chips were a hit with my boys who hate eating their veggies. I love that these vegetable snacks are made without oil and are simply baked sliced veggies with seasoning. They are the real thing, not some chips that are made with veggie powder. They naturally have plenty of fiber and vitamins in them. My favorite is the Bare Sea Salt Beet Chips and one serving has about 140 calories and 2-4 grams of protein. The crunchy snacks are also gluten-free, dairy-free, and fat-free, except for the Ranch Carrot Chips with have buttermilk in them and 1 gram of fat.
100% organic, instant fruit & vegetable drink
When was the last time you ate 5 servings of fruit and veggies in a day?  Kenko makes is easy to accomplish that healthy goal as each packet provides two servings of fruits and vegetables.
Just add water (first) to the BPA-free bottle that comes with your first order, then your fruits & veggies packet, shake, drink and feel good about checking a healthy decision off your list.
 These powders made a delicious drink and I love that they only contain organic fruits & veggies & spices and nothing else. These pretty powders come in five different flavors and are so easy to mix up for a delicious afternoon snack that energizes me with lots of vitamins and minerals. I love that it comes with a shaker bottle as that makes it so easy to get your 5 a day.
