Outdoor Gardens are Time-consuming and Require Space

For many years, I have wanted to have a garden in my backyard, but I never had the time it takes to tend to a garden. Then covid came, and I had time on my hands. I learned how to garden, and I grew tomatoes and kale in a Southwest swingset garden

My first garden experience showed me that outdoor gardening takes a lot of work. From the several hours it took me to plant the seeds to the daily watering to weekly weeding sessions, growing food can be hard. Another downside to gardening is that it is a seasonal thing. Gardening in the winter is not an option.

The Garden Tower is perfect for small spaces and can grow up to 50 plants

LetPot Hydroponic Growing System is a year-round garden

I hate when the weather gets cold and my garden no longer gives me fresh greens and tomatoes. The LetPot Hydroponic Garden is the best way for me to grow kale and other food plants in the winter. I can grow up to 12 plants in this awesome indoor garden.

What foods can I grow in the LetPot?

What I like about the LetPot Hydroponic Growing System

There are so many things that I like about the LetPot Hydroponic Growing System. I love how easy it is to start an indoor garden. The setup it super easy. From filling up the water chamber to adding the seed pods to connecting the system to an app on my phone, this is a garden for someone who is a busy person.

I like that the water chamber is made from stainless steel and that the LED light system mimics the sunshine. The best part is being able to control the garden from an app on my phone. This app reminds me when to add water to the system.

What I planted in the LetPot Hydroponic Growing System

For my first time using this indoor garden, I decided to grow kale, strawberries, and bok choy. The seeds were easy to drop into the sponges by using tweezers.

My favorite part was being able to set the light start and end times on the app. My previous hydroponic gardens from Areogarden did not have an app feature. So, setting the lights to come on at 6 am required me to wake up at 6 am to press a button.

I am excited to see my plants grow

Just based on my experience of starting my indoor garden with LetPot, I am loving this garden. I am excited to see my plants grow, and I will have future articles with photos of my vegetables. If you are looking for a way to grow food inside, I highly recommend buying a LetPot Hydroponic Growing System.

LetPot has mini indoor gardens that allow you to grow 5 plants all the way up to their max garden, which grows 21 plants. Check out all the Hydroponic gardens from LetPot Here

12 Spring Products You Need To Know About

Spring is here and I am so happy! I love the warmer weather and being able to get outside. Soon garden season will be here. Keep reading to discover some new products that are perfect for spring.

I am so glad that winter is over and spring weather is here. Now that the weather is warmer, I am outside more often. I got my hot tub ready for nighttime soaking sessions and I bought a backpack weed sprayer to kill all the weeds. We had a lot of rain this winter along with a couple of snowstorms so the weeds are starting to grow.

Once my weed sprayer arrives, I will make up a batch of my DIY natural weed spray. This 3 ingredient weed spray really works and kills the weeds in a day. Once all the weeds are gone, then I can start planning my garden. I can't wait for fresh greens from my garden, as my indoor garden doesn't produce enough for my daily vegetables.

I just returned from California from attending Expo West and that has helped me get back to running outside again. I don't run outside when the temperatures are cold as that bothers my asthma. California has a lower altitude than New Mexico, so I was able to run faster. After my trip, I returned to a pile of packages, of items that I ordered before I left for my trip. I am excited to tell you about some of the items that I received, so keep reading to learn more.

Products You Need To Know About

1. Grape Crush Anywear By Cherokee Footwear

Once spring weather arrives, I am outside in the backyard a lot! So I need a shoe that is easy to put on and take off. We don't wear shoes in the house and when I am working in my garden, I tend to go back and forth from indoors to outside.

So I need a shoe that I can step into and out of without having to sit down. So I ordered a pair of these pretty shoes. The color is called Grape Crush and they are so comfortable. I like that they are washable. That way I can wear them while I work in my garden. These shoes are also perfect for running errands and getting the mail. I might have to get another pair, to keep in my gym bag to wear in the shower.

The Anywear By Cherokee Footwear comes in many colors, even colors that guys would like. They provide arch support and plenty of cushion. Nurses swear by these shoes for all-day comfort. They are also slip-resistant and are under $35. I like buying shoes from this company as they are so comfortable and come in cute colors. I bought these gym shoes a couple of months ago to use while biking on my studio cycle.

From breezy joggers and comfy athletic shoes to khaki scrubsmaternity scrubs, and Dickies scrubs, Medical Scrubs Collections offers a vast array of chic fashions for all kinds of occasions.

2. Koi Betsey Johnson Reversible Fashion Mask

For most people the need for a face mask is over, for me, it is not. My need for a face mask has nothing to do with COVID-19 or germs but rather with hand sanitizer and fragrance. Chemical fragrances and hand sanitizers are asthma triggers for me. So when I am at places where folks are wearing perfume or using hand sanitizer, I wear a face mask to block the scent. Places where a face mask is a must are airplanes, church, and the allergy doctor.

So I decided to refresh my face mask collection and I bought some cute stylish face masks from Medical Scrubs Collection. I just love the flamingo print and the jungle floral print on these face masks as they bring a smile to my face. The masks are comfortable and lightweight. They are machine washable also.

3. Alpha Essential Renewal Lotion

I decided to try a new face lotion this month. The one that I was using was on the pricey side and the fragrance was annoying me. So I decided to try Alpha Skin Care Essential Renewal Lotion. I like that this lotion is made with natural ingredients and is fragrance-free. The price of this anti-aging lotion was also something that I liked.

This lotion contains 10% Glycolic Alpha Hydroxy Acid which lifts away the dead skin cells so new healthy skin can emerge. This skin renewal process helps to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. I like how this lotion absorbs quickly into my skin. After using this lotion for a week my skin feels so soft.

4. Pringles Harvest Blends

Pringles came out with some new potato chips that are made with sweet potatoes. So I decided to have my boys try them. These chips have a smoky BBQ taste and my boys enjoyed them. I was unable to try them as they have wheat in them.

The new Pringles Harvest Blends come in 4 flavors ~ Multigrain Farmhouse Cheddar, Multigrain Homestyle Ranch, Sweet Potato Sea Salt, and Sweet Potato Smoky BBQ. They are perfect for on-the-go snacking. This was even a 2024 Product of the Year award winner.

5. Stemilt Lil Snappers

My family loves apples. So I decided to try these snack-size apples. These apples are organic and so delicious. They are perfect for the boys to take to school for after-school snacks before their sports practice.

My husband liked the Honeycrisp apples the best and the Fuji apples were my favorite. These apples are super sweet. You can find the apples in stores like Walmart, Albertsons, and even Costco. Find out where you can buy the Stemilt Lil Snappers.

6. Nature’s Way Sambucus Immune Gummy

Spring may be here but the colds are still going around. My husband just got over a cold that was going around the office. Thankfully, I was in California while he was sick, so I did not catch his cold. I also made sure to take plenty of elderberry while I was traveling.

Once I got back from California, I needed to buy more elderberry. My boys like the taste of these Nature’s Way Sambucus gummies. These elderberry gummies also contain vitamin C and zinc for extra immune support. I like that one can take elderberry every day for immune health. This was even a 2024 Product of the Year award winner.

7. Alden's Organic Ice Cream

I met this brand at Expo West. While this brand just released a new product that was not allergy-friendly, they invited me to check out their new organic Greek yogurt ice cream bars. When I informed them about my dairy and wheat allergies, they were nice enough to send me samples of their dairy-free and gluten-free ice cream bars along with the yogurt bars for my boys to try.

Alden's latest frozen delights are brimming with better-for-you ingredients, featuring the richness of strained, organic Greek yogurt infused with live probiotic cultures. The organic Greek yogurt is avilable in six delicious flavors. The six new flavors include Mango twist - Chocolate Fudge twist - Mint Fudge Twist - Espresso Caramel Twist - Salted Caramel Twist - Strawberry Twist. My boys were happy to be my taste-testers and they enjoyed the ice cream bars. I was happy they were enjoying organic ice cream. I enjoyed the dairy-free and gluten-free frozen treats. Alden makes the best gluten-free, dairy-free ice cream sandwiches!

8. OmegaVia Vegan Omega 3 Supplement

I used to think that you could only get your omegas from fish but I discovered a vegan Omega 3 supplement. I had to try this supplement as I am trying to eat more plant-based foods. OmegaVia Vegan Omega 3 supplement is sourced from algae and contains 300mg of vegan DHA Omega 3 per capsule.

This vegan-sourced Omega 3 supplement is also free from fish, shellfish, dairy, eggs, tree nuts, sugar, wheat, gluten, yeast, and artificial colors or flavors. So it is perfect for vegans and those looking for an allergy-friendly supplement.

9. NIRA Youth Renewal Peptide Cream

The advanced multi-peptide complex is made to maximize the NIRA laser results. This face cream is also clinically proven to reveal skin that looks 5 years younger in just 60 days.  I love my NIRA facial Laser device and I am excited to see the results of using this face cream. This cream is lightweight and absorbs quickly. NIRA is comparable to those fancy facial treatments like peels and Botox. The best part of trying out NIRA is their 90-day no-questions-asked return policy if you don't see any results. Trust me you will see results of younger-looking skin. So skip the expensive beauty treatments and give NIRA a try. NIRA is my beauty secret to looking great at 58!

10. PURA D'OR Original Gold Label Shampoo and Conditioner

My hair used to be weak and thin. My husband would complain about all my hair in the shower. That all changed once I started using PURA D'OR shampoo and conditioner. Now my hair is thicker and there is less in the shower drain. I am trying out the PURA D'OR Original Gold Label Shampoo and Conditioner this month.

This shampoo and conditioner is formulated with biotin and other natural ingredients. These ingredients help reduce thinning hair, promote hair strength, and reduce breakage. Less breakage has helped my hair stop falling out. PURA D'OR contains no sulfates, parabens, or chemical fragrances. The conditioner makes my hair so soft and easy to manage. I also have less split ends. If you have thinning hair or want to prevent your hair from falling out, you need to try PURA D'OR Original Gold Label Shampoo and Conditioner.

11. EBS Spice

Do you like Everything Bagel Spice? You have to try this spice blend from Raw Spice Bar! EBS Spice contains White Sesame, Black Sesame, Poppy, Onion, Garlic, Salt, Smoked Salt, Dill, Nigella, and Black Pepper. This spice blend is ground into a fine powder so it is easy to use in recipes or as a spice rub. The flavor is amazing and it is perfect for eggs, avocado toast, and so much more.

Sign up and get a new spice blend every month.

12. The Cold Pod

I have decided to try ice bath therapy and I just got a cold water immersion tub from The Cold Pod. One of the benefits of cold plunging that I want to experience is reducing inflammation. I have chronic pain in my ankle from an old tendon injury and it is preventing me from running. So I am hoping that using an ice bath after I run will help.  I also want to see how it can help with my general health and my asthma issues.

I chose The Cold Pod as it is a portable ice bath and easy to set up. The Cold Pod also takes up less space than a traditional ice bath plus uses less water. Don't let the small size fool you into thinking that there is not enough space to be comfortable in this cold tub. This tub holds 116 gallons of water and is made for people up to 6 feet 7 inches.

I chose to set up the Cold Pod in my garage as that will make it easier for me to use as soon as I get home from the gym. It was super easy to set up the ice bath. It comes with support rods and an air pump. This bath also comes with a cover.

It was hard for me to get into the Ice Bath, I am a wimp when it comes to cold water. So I started with room-temperature water just to see how the tub felt. The tub was at a perfect height making it easy to get into.

Check out the products

Have fun checking out the products that I am using this month. Look for a future post with a review of The Cold Pod. I want to use it for a couple of weeks to see how it has benefited me. I am hoping that I can get used to the cold water. In the meantime enjoy a picture of cute grandbabies.

My Favorite Garden Finds For Summer

Summer is my favorite season of the year. I just love the warmer weather and being able to wear shorts. The best part of summer is growing food in my garden! Check out my favorite garden finds that I discovered.

Who here is a fan of summer? Who gets excited about growing food in a garden? I raised my hand for both questions as I love summer and gardening. Maintaining a backyard garden is hard work but it is so worth it. I just love that I have plenty of fresh organic vegetables and fruits to eat.

There is just something about planting seeds and seeing them turn into food. I am that person who can't wait for morning so I can check on my plants in my swingset garden. The first thing that I do in the morning after I exercise at the gym is head outside to my garden. I water all my plants, from tomatoes and greens to watermelons and cucumbers. I get so excited when the garden plants have signs of food growing on them as that means they are closer to being ready for harvesting.

I am obsessed with gardening

Three years ago, I started my first garden and I have learned to love growing food. Seeing my hard work turn into healthy food that I can eat is pretty amazing. Having a garden in my backyard also saves me money, especially as food costs continue to go up.

This year I have expanded my garden and I have purchased some new garden items. A couple of my garden purchases will help me to grow more veggies and other items will help me with working in the garden. These are garden goodies that you will want to learn about as you will want to buy them. So keep reading to discover my favorite new garden buys.

1. Indoor Garden Veggie Grower

The garden season is way too short for me. I want to pick fresh beet greens year-round but that just does not happen. It seems that by the time my garden plants give me food, fall is right around the corner. So I decided to purchase an indoor garden that allows me to grow lettuce, kale, and herbs 365 days a year.

I bought an Aerogarden Hydroponic Indoor Garden for indoor vegetable growing. This indoor garden is so easy to use. All I had to do was fill the garden unit up with water and add the seed pods along with the included plant food. This garden item is practically maintenance-free!

The Aerogarden has a grow light to help the plants grow and reminder lights to help you remember to add water and plant food about once every 2 weeks. I am growing lettuce and kale in my Aerogarden. The plants sprouted in 3 days and they were ready to eat in 2 weeks! The best part is after I cut off some fresh kale to eat, the plants grow more.

2. Garden Tower

I was looking for a way to add more garden space to my garden without having to dig out a space in my yard. I looked into container gardening as I way to grow vegetables in my yard and I discovered this amazing garden container that can grow 50 plants at a time! I knew that I had to buy it.

I discovered the Garden Tower and I have officially crossed to a plant lady! This Advanced Vertical Garden Planter is going to help me take my gardening skills to the next level. The Garden Tower is a composting vertical planter that combines the benefits of composting with growing plants.

The Garden Tower is a garden with a built-in composter! This Tower garden will help turn your food scraps into organic fertilizer that feeds your plants. This unique garden system has a chamber where you add worms and then they will transform the kitchen scraps into food for your plants to help you grow healthier bigger organic plants. 3. Comfortable Garden Shoes

I wanted some new shoes to wear while working in the garden as my sandals were not working. My feet were getting dirty and I needed some waterproof garden shoes that kept my feet clean.

I discovered some cute closed-back clogs that had an awesome price! While these shoes are made for medical professionals, I knew that they would work for gardening. The shoes are so comfortable and just love the fun design on them. These shoes are made with plastic materials so I can get them wet. Plus they are super easy to put on. I keep the Anywear By Cherokee Closed Back Plastic Clogs by my backdoor so I can wear them while I work in the garden. These clogs come in many different colors and patterns.

The shoes are available at Medical Scrubs Collection. Medical Scrubs Collection offers a fantastic selection in all sizes at the lowest possible prices.

4. Moisturizing Hair Oil

Working outside in the hot sun along with the wind can do a number on my hair. The summer heat tends to dry my hair out and it screams for moisture. So I needed to find a hair product to give my dry hair some intense moisturizing.

The Mayraki Ultimate Botanical Moisturizing Hair Oil was the perfect product for my hair. This moisturizing hair oil is infused with organic botanicals and natural oils to restore and nourish hair from root to tip. It contains a blend of nourishing oils, including argan oil, jojoba oil, and castor oil, which help strengthen hair, reduce breakage, and promote healthy hair growth. The botanical extracts in this oil, including chamomile and lavender, help soothe the scalp and promote relaxation. My hair feels so soft after I use this hair oil.

5. Green House

I added a greenhouse to my garden last year and it was the best purchase that I made for gardening. This greenhouse survived the harsh weather of the desert and I was able to use it another year. Using a greenhouse for my garden has had many benefits. I was able to start my garden sooner as the greenhouse created a warmer space for the garden seeds and garden plants. Keeping the garden soil covered with a greenhouse also kept the birds away from the vegetable seeds. Last year the birds ate my seeds shortly after I planted them

This greenhouse is super affordable and has many other garden benefits. Check out my full review of my backyard greenhouse to discover all the garden benefits of using a greenhouse.

6. Live Worms

My Garden Tower required worms for the composting feature to work. So, I purchased a bag of Live Red Wiggler Worms for Vermiculture & Composting online. This was my first online worm purchase for my garden. I had no idea that you could even buy worms online.

The 100 worms came in a cloth drawstring bag filled with dirt. When I opened up the bag, the worms looked dead but once I added water to the dirt, the worms started to wake up. Worms are great for composting as they help turn the food scraps from your compost bucket into nutrient-rich food for your plants.

You need to check out all of my favorite garden finds for summer

I am going to have so much fun in my garden this summer. I am excited about all the fresh garden produce that my garden plants will be producing. I am anticipating having so many green veggies and tomatoes to stock up my freezers. My son is excited about fresh sweet watermelon.

What is your favorite garden plant to grow?

Are Garden Towers Worth The Money?

Gardening season has started and I am excited to grow my seeds in the Garden Tower. This is The “World's Most Advanced Vertical Garden Planter."

I have been growing food in my backyard for several years and this will be my 4th time starting a garden. I decided to try gardening in the Southwest back in the year 2020. The COVID-19 stuck-at-home thing got me to join the garden craze and I am hooked on growing fresh vegetables in my yard.

Several things just lined up in the year 2020 to get me to try the impossible, hobby of gardening. The most obvious was I had plenty of time on my hands and my youngest boys did not demand much of my time. So instead of taking care of kids, I am taking care of plants and the reward of fresh green vegetables and tomatoes is one that I like.

Garden Tower Project

From a swingset garden to a Garden Tower

My first garden was a small space near my house and I grew beet greens, kale, and one tomato plant in a container. This garden gave me enough fresh produce to inspire me to expand my garden the next year. My next garden space was a converted swingset garden where I grew more veggies and fruits. I grew cucumbers, basil, chard, zucchini, and even watermelon!

I then added a greenhouse to my garden plan, last year. The greenhouse was super affordable and had many garden benefits. The best benefit of growing plants in a greenhouse is being able to keep pests, like birds, away from my plants. Save 10% on the best greenhouse With Code AFFILIATE10.

Also in the year 2022, my garden gave me a bumper crop of tomatoes along with plenty of greens and carrots. I even had tomatoes growing in my compost pile! I had tossed some rotten tomatoes in the compost bucket and they grew into a massive amount of tomato plants.

Then I discovered the Garden Tower and I have officially crossed to a plant lady! This Advanced Vertical Garden Planter is going to help me take my gardening skills to the next level. The Garden Tower is a composting vertical planter that combines the benefits of composting with growing plants.

Come Grow With Me

I just started my Garden Tower. It was super simple to set up. I placed the garden system on my patio and filled it up with potting soil. Then I planted my seeds. I am glad that added the caster wheels package to my Garden Tower order. These locking wheels will make moving the garden tower easy. So I can control the amount of sun that my plants will receive.

The summer temperatures can get quite high here in the desert. So the wheel system will allow me to move my garden to a better spot on my patio, so my plants can thrive. That also will help with my watering schedule.

Garden Tower Project

My first review

The Garden Tower is very durable and it was super easy to add the garden seeds. Depending on the plant, I added 2-3 seeds per compartment. I loved that I did not have to worry about proper seed spacing like I have to do in my ground garden space.

I bet you are wondering how I can grow watermelons and cucumbers in this stacking garden tower. Since I planted the seeds near the bottom of the tower, I will be able to place the plant vines of the melons on the ground, so they will have plenty of space to grow.

Watering is super easy as you water the plants from the top of the planting system. The water then travels down to give all the plants water. I won't be able to overwater the plants as excess water goes into a pull-out drawer. This drawer also serves as the place where the compost tea gets made.

Love the inside composter

I am super excited about the composting part of the Garden Tower. It will make composting food scraps super easy. The tower has a chamber in which I placed live worms inside. I bought my garden worms online from Amazon. Then I will feed the worms with my kitchen scraps and other items that are compostable like cardboard.

The worms will eat the compost pile and turn it into organic fertilizer for the plants. Even the excess water will be made into compost tea that I can use to water the plants. So I love that I can grab my kitchen compost bin and pour the contents into the Garden Tower. Having a compost pile has never been this easy!

Check back for updates on my Garden Tower growing experience

As my seeds sprout into plants and give me food, I will update my growing experience with The Garden Tower in other garden articles. So check back!

Final Thoughts on the Garden Tower 2

The Garden Tower doesn’t guarantee garden success. It’s a planter that allows you to grow more in a smaller space. It’s a really convenient, space-saving planter. This is a great planter for those with smaller yards or those who are looking to do raised garden beds. For me, I bought the Garden Tower as I wanted to expand my garden.

Two years ago if you told me that I needed to start a garden in my backyard, I would have laughed. I live in the desert of the Southwest, where it does not rain that much. The soil in my backyard is sandy and filled with rocks. It took a lockdown from a virus to inspire me to start a swingset garden in the southwest.

I started out small with my first garden and planted seeds that would grow best in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The vegetable seeds that I planted in my desert garden were beets, spinach, and kale. These vegetables grow best in rocky, sandy soil. I also bought a tomato plant as tomatoes grow best in hot weather. I wanted to grow some other vegetables but garden seeds were hard to find as so many people were gardening in the summer of 2020.

Where to buy seeds for a home garden

When most people think of starting a backyard garden, they head to their nearest hardware store to buy garden seeds. The colorful packages of vegetable seeds at the local home stores are plentiful, so you grab all your favorite vegetables that you like to eat. The problem with buying garden seeds from a store that also sells tools and appliances is the lack of seed-growing information. While these seed packages have some information on them, it is not enough to grow a successful garden.

So I recommend that you buy your garden seeds online from a website that specializes in garden seeds. Along with the ease of buying your garden seeds, you will also get the best gardening advice. I prefer to buy my vegetable seeds online and I discover that Eden Brothers has a huge variety of seeds at affordable prices.

Selecting the vegetable seeds that are best for your growing zone and things like water needs is very important for the success of growing food. Eden Brothers has all the information you need to select the seeds that will grow in your type of soil and temperature. That way you don't try to grow broccoli in the desert. When you select your seeds from Eden Brothers, you will get information about how to plant the seeds and how much sun is needed for the veggies.

Buying a greenhouse and other gardening tips

Before you start a garden, it is good to do some gardening research. Things to consider are where is the best place to start your garden in your backyard and what vegetables you want to grow. Some vegetables are easier to grow while others may not grow in your garden zone area. If you want to start your seeds outside, buying a greenhouse might be a good garden investment. Check out these garden tips and how a greenhouse may help your vegetable plants grow better.

A fun way to use vegetables from your garden

The best way to enjoy the vegetables that you grew in your home garden is to make food art. Start with some homemade pizza dough and then have fun decorating the dough with the fresh veggies. I remember the first time I made Focaccia Bread Flowers and it was so fun using the different colors of vegetables to make flowers on the pizza dough. The best part came after the bread dough art was baked in the oven and I got to enjoy eating my masterpiece. Get the Focaccia Bread Flower recipe and have fun creating your vegetable art.

Start planning your garden

So now that you have discovered some delicious recipes, it is time to order your garden seeds. I know that the weather is getting colder and planting a garden is not ideal but this is the perfect time to start your garden research. While you are waiting for spring, you can also order some seeds to plant herbs inside. A kitchen herb garden can be grown inside in planters near your windows. Check out the selection of herb seeds at Eden Brothers. My favorite herbs to grow inside are basil and sage.
