When you choose beautiful flowers for a girl that you love, you don't have to worry about things like size or spoiling her diet. If you deliver the flowers to her workplace, you will look a knight in shining armor as she makes all the other girls so jealous. Your special girl will be smiling all day as she gazes at her pretty flowers and smells the wonderful floral aroma. That special arrangement of hand-picked flowers will be the start of happiness together. Natural Ways to Treat Muscle Pain From Exercise

Is your new gym routine causing muscle pain? Skip the pain medicine and check out these ways to get some natural relief from muscle aches and pains.

Do you suffer from occasional aches and pains from working out? No matter how careful you are when you are running on the treadmill or lifting weights, sometimes you overwork those muscles. At times these muscle pains or soreness are minor and go away quickly without the help of any medicines. Then there are the pains in your body that linger for many hours or several days. These body aches or muscle pains can discourage you from working out the next day. I have many things that I do to first prevent muscle pain but when I do get the pain in my leg muscles from running extra miles, I reach for many different muscle remedies to help soothe my sore muscle pain.

Last month, I noticed that my right arm hurt when I tried to wash the back of my left shoulder. I had just finished lifting weights at the gym so I figured that I may have pulled a muscle in my upper arm. I finished my shower and thought to myself it would be better in the morning. Since it only hurt when I reached over my left shoulder, I did not apply any muscle cream to my arm.

A couple days later I noticed the pain in my tricep again after I was showering up after my weight lifting session at the gym. So after my shower, I reached for my CBD muscle cream and applied it to my arm. That gave me some great pain relief. I love using CBD oil for pain relief. I understand if CBD oil is not for you or if you are worried about THC on a workplace drug test. My neighbor works for the government and his security clearance won't even allow him to have CBD oil products in the house. CBD oil has such a small if no amount of THC in it that it will not show up on a drug test but the government has its rules. So I will tell you about other natural products that I use for pain relief.

I can tell when I forget to take my turmeric capsules. The other day I went running and my legs started hurting halfway into my run. The light bulb went off in my head and I remembered that I did not take any turmeric supplementation that morning.

Arnica

Arnica is a homeopathic medicine that temporarily relieves muscle pain and stiffness. This natural supplement comes in many forms like tablets, cream, gel, and ointment. I discovered this pain reliever at a fitness conference. I like using arnica after my fitness session for those times that my muscles are sore. I also like using this cream on my kid's bruises as it offers some nice pain relief for those times when they get hurt from playing. Arnica does not make me sleepy like CBD does so arnica is great to use during the day for my muscle pain. Last year when I attended a fitness conference, I overdid it in the expo trying out all the new exercise equipment and machines. My calves were super sore and rubbing arnica gel on them took away the pain so I could sleep that night.

My boys love arnica too! The other day my boys were having fun at the skateboard park. One landed hard on his knee and the other did something to his foot. When we got home, I gave my boys some arnica tablets and had them rub some arnica cream on their bruises. The boys then went to their church youth group and forgot about their pains. When they got home later that evening, my boys asked me where the arnica was. I said to my boys, " I love that you are asking for arnica!" and the oldest one replied, "yea, 'cause it works!"

CBD Oil

CBD oil is great for muscle aches and other pains. This natural supplement comes in many forms like liquid, gummies, and creams. CBD oil is safe to use and I even give it to my kids for pain relief. I like using CBD creams as some have the added benefit of methol to give soothing pain relief. For some people, like me, it has a relaxing effect. So I like to use CBD oil creams at night for pain help. For me personally, CBD also has a healing effect. I discovered the pain relief power of CBD a couple of years ago when I had a trigger thumb. I had received some samples of CBD cream, again from a conference, and decided to try it on my painful stiff thumb. I applied the CBD cream on my thumb before I went to bed and in the morning my thumb felt better and was no longer stiff.

CBD oil is another favorite natural home remedy that my boys will use. The other day the teen was complaining that his head hurt, so I gave him a CBD gummie. Within 20 minutes, his head felt better. My boys also like using CBD cream on the many bumps and bruises that they get from sports like skateboarding. I will always use CBD first before I give my boys over-the-counter pain relievers, especially after they visit the orthodontist.

                    Massage therapy

Massaging a sore muscle helps with pain and stiffness. My husband sure does love back rubs and using the hydro massage at the gym. The problem is that involves me giving him a back rub, which hurts my hands or my husband having to wait a long time at the gym to use the hydro massage. I discovered a more effective tool that gives my husband a deeper massage and does not involve my hands. The PowerDot also helps with muscle recovery and more. This performance tool recently helped me with my stiff upper arm muscle after other natural pain relievers and rest did not work.

Remember that sore stiff tricep muscle I was talking about earlier? The natural pain creams like CBD oil and arnica were only taking care of the pain temporally. After a couple days of the pain, I knew that I must have overworked my arm muscle and I took a week off from lifting weights. I also did not do any exercises that involved that arm. The pain and stiffness did not go away. I even tried hot and cold therapy. My PowerDot arrived in the mail and I decided to give the electrical stimulation a try on this annoying arm pain. I had requested this at-home performance tool to use with my training but instead, I had a perfect opportunity to see how it could help with muscle recovery and pain relief.

The PowerDot is like having an at-home physical therapist and massage therapist

I liked how easy and cost-efficient the PowerDot is compared to physical therapy sessions. With my insurance, I have a $175 deductible and $50 co-payment for me to just see the PT person one time. The PowerDot is like having an at-home physical therapist and massage therapist. I like that I can use this pain-relieving device while doing other things. I don't even have to leave my home for my muscle therapy. I can use my PowerDot when I want when the pain strikes, no need to make an appointment! So the cost of this amazing Smart Muscle Stimulator is so worth it.

The small Smart Muscle Stimulators™ are easy to attach and I love that I can control it through an app on my phone. It even comes with a case so I can use it at the gym or while traveling. Right now I am using the muscle massage device for pain relief but the PowerDot does so much more. This small device is a powerful fitness performance tool that can enhance your workout.

PowerDot® is the world's smartest muscle recovery & performance tool. The Smart Muscle Stimulator connects via Bluetooth® to an intuitive mobile app that controls 12+ electric muscle stimulation programs designed to help you:
  • Recover faster
  • Massage out knots
  • Avoid training fatigue
  • Relieve muscle & joint soreness
  • Increase muscle strength & endurance
  • Increase blood circulation
  • Warm-up muscles to prevent injury
  • Feel your best
Clinically proven, pain-free, and FDA cleared - It’s that simple.

PowerDot is an FDA-approved NMES & TENS device

I normally do not like massages but the PowerDot was gentle yet effective. I placed the stimulators on my arm muscle and selected the program on my phone. I liked that I could select the amount of intensity that felt right on my muscles. I could select the program that was best for my body part and what I wanted to achieve, like pain relief. I could see the PowerDot moving my arm muscle as it gently massaged it.  I was able to work on my computer while the PowerDot worked its magic on my sore muscles. I could feel the muscle recovery device reducing my inflammation and taking away the stiffness. This device gave my arm muscle a deep massage.

After I used the PowerDot Smart Muscle Stimulator on my arm, my muscles felt less stiff and I had a better range of motion with my arm. My tricep did not hurt when I put pressure on it. I continued to use the PowerDot after each weightlifting session for about a week and the results were what I expected. My arm no longer had that annoying pain when I placed it over my other shoulder. I was able to wash my back without any pain.

Heat therapy

Heat therapy is one of those home remedies that may work for natural pain relief but it is also one that you have to be careful with. A heating pad is great for sore muscles but it can make an injury worse. So you have to know if your pain is from overworked muscles or an injury. My husband fell on his arm a couple of months ago. He only had a bit of pain for a day and aspirin took care of that. My husband has not realized that natural pain relievers work. So he thought nothing of his falling on his arm. About a week later, his elbow started hurting. So my husband put the heating pad on his arm as he thought that he overworked his arm at the gym. The next day his elbow was swollen and my husband was ready to head to the urgent care, thinking that he had broken his elbow.

Since I did not want him to spend $200, I told my husband to apply compression, ice, and elevate his arm for the weekend to see if that could help. I did not think that my husband broke anything as he was able to move his arm. My husband insisted that his arm felt better with heat, even though I told him that heat could make an injury worse, so he did not use ice therapy on his arm.

The swelling did not go down on my husband's elbow and he went to the urgent care that Monday. He came home later and told me that the doctor said he injured a tendon. I wanted to say, "I told you so" but I did not. The doctor told my husband to apply compression, ice, and elevate his arm.

Cold therapy

Sometimes something as simple as placing an ice pack on the sore muscle can help relieve the pain. The cold ice pack can dull the pain and take away any swelling or inflammation. I keep several large flexible gel ice packs in my fridge so they are ready to use. These ice packs get used often as I have boys who play rough and participate in sports. Cold therapy is also great for headaches. Ice pain relief is always best to use if you think that you injured a muscle, tendon, or bone as coldness will help with the swelling.

Rest

Rest is always a good thing when you have muscle aches. Sometimes a day of rest can do wonders for a sore muscle. I am a firm believer in taking a day off from weight lifting so your muscles can rest and repair. The arm pain that I received from lifting weights did go away with using the PowerDot and taking some time off from my weight-lifting routine. I did not want this pain to turn into an injury or a muscle tear.

If the pain gets worse or does not go away ~ see a doctor

I am not a doctor or a physical therapist. These are natural at-home remedies that have worked for me and my family. If you are unsure if your pain is more than a muscle ache, then seek medical advice. When I have questions I call the nurse line that my insurance offers. I may also use a video doctor before I head to the doctor or the urgent care. There have been times when I knew that an injury needed medical attention, like when I tore my hamstring, and I made an appointment to see a doctor. Tearing a hamstring was not fun and I experienced burning pain in my leg that made me question if I broke a bone. My hamstring tear made me take a break from running and several weeks of physical therapy.

22 Meatless Monday Meal ideas

Looking to cut back on meat and save money at the grocery store? Check out these recipes for meatless meal ideas. These delicious recipes will help you save money on your meals.

Many people think of bland meals when it comes to meatless meals. They also think that their body can't get enough protein and other nutrients unless they eat meat. Are you looking to eat less meat or just looking for some healthy meal ideas? You have come to the right place.

The other day I was working out at the gym and I was watching the news. The news was talking about Oprah's Wellness tour. This caught my attention as I wanted to know more about how she was helping others through her own journey of getting healthy. So when I got home from the gym, I went to Oprah's website and an article that caught my attention was about her eating one plant-based meal a day for 30 days. So being that I mostly follow a vegan meal plan, I had to know more about Oprah's 30-day challenge.

It was an interview that Oprah had with climate change activist Suzy Cameron that led Oprah to pledge to eat one plant-based meal a day for a month. In Cameron's book The OMD Plan, she says "the benefits of eating plant-based go way beyond just your own personal health, but also, the health of the planet. "

How To Get More Protein Without Eating Meat

So that got me to thinking that I needed to share some of my delicious plant-based meals and vegetarian meals so others could see how easy and delicious meals can be without meat. I have been eating meatless for over 25 years and more recently I have eliminated all dairy from my diet due to a dairy allergy that I discovered through a blood test. I do eat eggs and fish on occasion so I am not a true vegan. That is ok as I believe that everyone's body needs different healthy food to be healthy. My body is at its best when I don't eat meat or dairy products. When I consume any amount of dairy, I experience asthma symptoms. So if you eat meat, as my husband does, that is your choice. I just want to share meals that my family enjoys so others can see that a vegetarian diet does not mean a plate of vegetables and quinoa. A meatless diet can be so delicious and filled with a variety of healthy meals.

Meatless meals are
~ Delicious
~ Frugal
~ Healthy
~ Easy To Make
~ Help Your Food Budget
~ Don't Harm Animals

There are so many meal subscription services to select from that I am sure that you can find the best meal delivery services that fits you the best. Plant-based Pizza and Vegetarian Pizza

Rosemary and Caramelized Onion Sun-Dried Tomato Focaccia

One of my family's favorite meatless meals is pizza. Pizza can be enjoyed with cheese or without. My family enjoys their pizza with mozzarella cheese and I enjoy mine with vegan cheese. This is my preferred brand of vegan cheese as it melts the best on a pizza. If you use flavorful toppings like flavored oil, you can even make pizza cheese-less. All these pizza recipes can be made with dairy-free cheese if you prefer a vegan pizza.

                                   Mushroom Pizza With Caramelized Onions

                                          Dairy-Free Sun-Dried Tomato & Artichoke Pizza

                                                 Sweet Potato And Corn Pizza

                                             Easy Pizza rolls

Other favorite meatless meals

My family also enjoys meatless meals that are made from beans, nuts, and seeds. Eggs are also great sources of protein for meals that contain no meat. Things like tacos and burritos can easily be made without meat for vegan meal prep, as you can substitute pinto beans or black beans. In place of the cheese, I like to use avocado. Avocado toast is another favorite meatless Monday meal that I enjoy. Place a slice of avocado over a sunny-side-up egg on a piece of toast and it is so good.

The below list of recipes uses many different sources of proteins like beans, lentils, tofu, nuts, and seeds. You can make a family favorite recipe of sloppy joes with cooked lentils and it will still have the same amazing flavor. I recently made a keto Pad Thai without meat and it has become a family favorite dish Check out some other meatless menu dishes that my family enjoys.

                                              Marvelous Mushroom Vegetarian "Meat" Loaf

                                                        Easy Vegetarian Egg Foo Young

Those are just some of the meatless meals that my family enjoys. Other meals that we have that are made without meat are things like pasta, beans, rice bowls, sushi bowls, and things like vegetable soup. So many meals that are made with meat can be made without meat by using things like beans, tofu, or eggs. You can even use plant-based meatless meat substitutes like veggie burgers. The Best Spicy Salmon Waffles Recipe

Everything tastes better when made in a waffle machine

I received samples from Safe Catch to facilitate this post

I do love waffles and I like to make them every chance that I get. My favorite waffle recipe is one that is made with savory ingredients. My family thinks that I am strange as I like waffles that have roasted sunflower seeds in them. I am just not into sweet waffles covered in sweet sticky syrup. I like my waffles crispy and savory. Sometimes I even like my waffles spicy. How do you like your waffles?

The waffle maker can be so useful beyond making waffles. I have seen recipes for the waffle maker that uses muffin and brownie mix. I have also heard of people cooking mac and cheese in the waffle maker, I am not so sure of the mess with this recipe. I am sure that my boys would love mac and cheese in the waffle iron or maybe a peanut butter creation. I will stick with my savory sunflower seed waffles.

So when I saw this waffle recipe over at Safe Catch salmon waffles, I just knew that I had to make it as it sounded so delicious and it was a savory recipe. This waffle recipe was so me as I love that it was made with salmon. I do love salmon. Salmon is my favorite kind of fish. One of the best ways to enjoy salmon is straight from a can. I am not talking about just any can of salmon. This healthy girl demands sustainably caught salmon. I also want my salmon to be low in mercury.

A box of the most amazing seafood

I had just received the most amazing box of goodies in the mail the other day from Safe Catch. This company sure does know how to make me smile as this amazing box was loaded with so many delicious cans and pouches of seafood. I have never seen so many delicious varieties of tuna and salmon. The box also contained sardines, mmm. Do you love sardines? Again, my family thinks I am crazy but I enjoy eating sardines right out of the can. Sardines are also great on avocado toast.

Seafood is the main reason that I will never follow a 100% vegan diet or a vegetarian diet. I do prefer plant-based food most of the time. My dairy allergy makes it easy to not eat cheese but I will not give up seafood.  I love the taste of seafood. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with seafood, especially when it is sustainable seafood. Seafood is loaded with healthy Omega 3 oils and it is a great source of protein.

Not your average can of tuna

When most people think of tuna in a can, they think of tuna fish sandwiches. When I think of the tuna fish that I ate as a kid, I think of cat food. Safe Catch tuna is not your average can of tuna. This tuna is a cut above and is a safer tuna to eat. Did you know that the can of tuna that you probably had as a kid was loaded with mercury and dolphins were harmed in the process of getting that fish? Safe Catch gets its delicious tuna from well-managed fisheries using sustainable fishing methods. This company also tests each fish for mercury so it is lower than the FDA limits. This is a can of fish that you can feel good about eating.

What is in my can of salmon?

When you open a can of ordinary seafood like salmon or tuna, the first thing that you do is drain the oil or water from the can. With Safe Catch seafood, no draining is needed as they don't add anything to their can of fish. They don’t add oil, water, fillers, preservatives, or GMO-Soy broth to their salmon. So when you open up the can all you will find is pure wild salmon. That liquid that you see is natural fish oils so just stir it back into the salmon. Safe Catch also hand packs the raw wild salmon into the can and then slow cooks it to perfection. This method helps retain all the vital Omega 3 oils and nutrients.

The taste is what I like the best

Sure, I buy Sustainable tuna for earth-friendly reasons and for the fact that it is low in mercury but the number one reason I buy sustainable fish is for the taste. Sustainable fish tastes so good! The texture of Safe Catch fish is way better too. Just look at all those chunks of seafood! Taste and texture are important to me. It has to taste good or I won't eat it. I don't care how nutritious something is, I won't eat something unless it excites my taste buds. Trust me this recipe for Spicy Salmon Waffles will excite your taste buds. If you have ever tried salmon cakes, you will love this recipe! Salmon waffles have replaced my avocado toast.

Waffles that are full of flavor and nutrition

These delicious spicy salmon waffles are so easy to make. It is a one-bowl recipe. The waffle iron gives them an amazing texture and everything tastes better when it looks like a waffle. If you don't like spicy, just use regular mayo. You can also substitute coconut flour for the flour if you need a gluten-free option or a keto-friendy recipe. These waffles could be made with tuna also, depending on your preference. You could eat these like you would regular waffles with a drizzle of chipotle mayo and a sprinkle of everything spice. I was out of avocados but sliced avocados would be amazing on my spicy salmon waffles.  You could also place this delicious salmon waffle patty in a flour tortilla with some coleslaw. The spicy salmon waffle would be amazing in between a toasted everything spice bagel. This recipe makes one generous serving.

Make sure to pin this delicious recipe for later

Three Ways to Be Healthier While Online Shopping

I love how online shopping saves me time and makes life so much easier at times. Sure sometimes the prices can be high or you have to pay to ship but I take into account the gas money that I am saving. So at times, it is a good trade-off to have items shipped to my home.

Online shopping is everywhere nowadays. Why go to three stores for all of the items you need when you can order them from one website and have them delivered to your door the next day? Ecommerce has made customers' lives considerably easier than it used to be.

Though online stores are convenient, it's still good to be smart about them. A critical consumer is a healthy consumer! Here are three ways to improve your online shopping habits to improve your health.

Do the Research
When buying something online, especially something you consume, it can be good to research it first. Many reputable food stores, makeup companies and even online vape shops will have a reading or learning section that will allow you to look up what you're buying and how best to use it.

While buying things in a single click can be fun and satisfying, it's important to still be smart as well. Researching what your buying ensures you get the best products and keep yourself healthy in the process.

Take Breaks
It seems like common sense that you shouldn't spend your whole day shopping online for goods, but eCommerce can be addictive. It feels great to get a good deal or find that item you've been seeking for months.

Always remembers to take breaks and take care of yourself when shopping online. Spend 15 minutes taking a quick walk. Stand up and stretch your legs. Do some light jumping jacks or high knees. All of these examples can help keep your body healthy even during a marathon shopping spree.

Opt for Healthy Products
Buying your groceries online? Throw a bundle of spinach in that cart instead of a bag of chips! Grab some bottled water instead of soda. Making little changes to your online purchasing habits can change your diet, your health and your overall happiness.

Changing your entire online shopping habits overnight is difficult, so feel free to do this in increments. Buy a bag of apples instead of french fries one week. Pick up some yogurt the next week. Little changes can make a big difference.

Online shopping is convenient, but can still create health challenges if you aren't conscious about it. Being a smart consumer and a smart online user will help keep you healthy and happy. Go ahead, buy up all the things you want! Be smart, though, and think about them first: you're in control of your health and your life.
