Make Learning Fun With Free Online Math Games

Are you homeschooling your kids?

Sponsored post

Things have drastically changed for many families in the past month. Most people are having to stay at home to help flatten the curve of a respiratory virus, and for so many, that means kids are not going to school. That means parents are now left with the job of teaching their children, and that can be adding to the stress of this pandemic virus outbreak.

Many parents are also working from home, so teaching their kids may be hard while they are trying to do their own work. While some parents are able to figure out how to best homeschool their children, many like myself are struggling with teaching their kids things like math. For the past couple of weeks, I have let my children just play on the computer and outside, as I just am not able to work and homeschool at the same time. Even if I had time on my hands, I just don't feel like I am able to teach my kids, and that has been leaving me with mom guilt.

Sure, I have been searching online for math programs and encouraging my kids to read more. I even suggested that they write about their daily life, but they were not happy about that. My kids just don't want their mom to be their teacher. So I put the idea of homeschooling my kids out of my mind, as I did not want to add any additional stress to our house. I am ok with not teaching my kids, but I knew that my kids needed things to do, and my allowing them way too much screen time was not the answer. I knew that their computer time needed some learning time. So I am glad that I discovered a website that has free online math games.

Make learning time fun with free online math games

My boys are tweens and are independent learners. They were succeeding in school thanks to these school learning tips, and I wanted to keep them learning while they are at home for the rest of the school year. So while I did allow my boys to be on the computer more, I also made sure that some of the computer time was allocated for learning time. One website that my boys are enjoying has plenty of fun math games that are teaching them math and refreshing their math skills. The best part for me is that these math equation games are free, and the games do not require email sign-ups or logins. Nor are the math games monetized with ads. These are the best educational games for kids.

Math games for all ages

I love that the website that has math games has games that teach all ages. So my boys spent their screen time learning addition, division, multiplication, and subtraction at a level for their grade. There were plenty of games to keep my boys engaged in math learning. Each of the different games had a star difficulty rating, so my boys could select the game that matched their middle school learning level. There were even math games for preschoolers.

Math and puzzle games to train the brain

The math games went beyond basic math skills and included logic-based math games. My older son enjoyed a math game called CalcuDoku that combined math and Sudoku for a challenging math game. My younger son enjoyed playing the Grocery Cashier that taught him math life skills. My boys were having so much fun playing the math games that they forgot that they were learning. I was happy that my boys were learning math with fun computer games.

The list of math games even included some crossword puzzles, word searches, and other word-related games, so my boys were even enhancing their language arts skills. There is also significant benefit from games like solitaire. It's the simplicity of this game's logic and structure which made it so compelling. It's good for teaching things like strategy, order, and patterns.

Math games for homeschool teaching

The online math games are not only free to play but can be useful for homeschool teaching and for teachers. These educational games are great for teachers and parents who are looking for ways to teach kids math on the computer. So kids will have fun learning math while they are at home. The math games are colorful and interactive, so they will keep kids entertained.

The games that teach math kept my boys busy, and they even played some of the games together, which is good due to the fact that they have to share a computer. While my boys were stimulating their brains on the computer, this mom saw them smiling and laughing together. My mom's guilt about not being able to homeschool went away as I was finally figuring out a way to homeschool my boys in a way that they liked. My boys were again learning while at home. So if you are looking for a way to teach your children math, you need to check out these free online math games that will make your job as a parent/teacher a bit easier.

Nourishing Homemade Chocolate Cream Eggs For Easter With Joya

Indulge in a healthier version of chocolate cream eggs

Easter is almost here and filling those Easter baskets does not have to be hard, especially if you can't get to the store. This Easter we just have to be creative with selecting the Easter treats for our kids. So some ideas for goodies to place in the baskets for Easter may have to be homemade. If you have the ingredients at home or can get them at a grocery store, you can make Easter cookies using the best sugar cookie recipe or even homemade chocolates. You can even make a healthier version of those chocolate cream eggs that the Easter Bunny brings my husband every year. I discovered a nourishing recipe for chocolate cream eggs that uses a superfood for the creamy yellow middle section of the chocolate egg. So you can give your family healthy Easter treats this Easter. This delicious sweet cream egg recipe uses ingredients that you may have at home or be able to find at the grocery store.

Relive the spring candy of your childhood by making your own homemade Creme Eggs. The best part is these homemade chocolate cream eggs are made without refined sugars and dairy. So vegans and people with dairy allergies, like me, can enjoy a chocolate treat. The fun part of the cream egg candy is the yellow "yolk" in the middle uses a superfood that adds a gentle sweet heat to the chocolatey treat. This yellow "yolk" is made with turmeric powder and I bet you probably have a turmeric supplement in your pantry.

I discovered this chocolate cream egg recipe HERE. I love that the recipe uses many healthy ingredients like cashews and coconut. This recipe uses Joya Glow Turmeric Elixir Blend to recreate the classic yellow center. This turmeric supplement has a signature blend of invigorating spices and adaptogenic herbs like turmeric, Ashwagandha, Astragalus and Pine Pollen. I love making golden milk with the Turmeric Elixir Blend for a sweet bedtime treat. I also add a scoop of the turmeric blend to my daily smoothie. Turmeric is a supplement that I use to help fight free radicals and inflammation.

So gather up your ingredients and make these delicious treats for Easter. This recipe makes six eggs and is vegan, paleo, and dairy-free. I copied the recipe from the Joya website so you can see how to make the eggs.

Pin this recipe so you can make it

Chocolate-Coated Coconut Cashew Creme Eggs

½ cup (70 g) raw cashews
5 tablespoons (85 g) coconut butter
⅛ teaspoon Joya's Glow elixir blend (or turmeric powder)
2 tablespoons shredded coconut (unsweetened, fine) raw honey or another liquid sweetener, to taste*
fine sea salt, a small pinch
Optional: ⅛ teaspoon pure vanilla extract or vanilla powder
125 g Joya's 70% dark or 61.5% coconut milk chocolate (or other chocolate of your choice**), chopped

*To keep recipe vegan, use maple syrup, agave or other vegan-friendly liquid sweeteners
**To keep recipe paleo, make sure to use chocolate that is not sweetened with refined/cane sugar

Instructions
Prepare the cashew cream

1. In a bowl, combine cashews and 2 cups of room temperature water and soak for 2-4 hours. Drain and rinse well.
2. In a blender jar, combine drained cashews, ¼ cup water and a tiny pinch of sea salt. Blend until very smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides of the jar as needed. Set aside.

Prepare the eggs

1. Measure the coconut butter into a small microwavable bowl and heat just until softened, about 10 seconds.
2. In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of the coconut butter, 1 tablespoon of the cashew cream and the Joya Glow elixir blend (or turmeric) and stir to combine. Add honey to taste (we used about ½ teaspoon). Transfer to the fridge to firm up slightly, 5 minutes.

3. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded coconut, remaining coconut butter and ¼ cup (68 g) cashew cream and stir to combine. Add honey to taste (we used about 1 teaspoon). Transfer to the fridge to firm up slightly, 10 minutes.

4. While the white mixture is chilling, divide the yellow “yolk” mixture into 6 x 1 teaspoon portions.    Very lightly roll into balls and set back in the fridge.

5. Divide white mixture into 6 x 1.5 tablespoon portions. Roll each portion into a ball and flatten it in your palm into a circle (not too thin, about 5 mm).

6. Place a yellow “yolk” ball in the middle of each circle, wrap the yellow ball with the circle and lightly roll it into a ball again, forming each ball into an oval egg-like shape if desired. Transfer to the fridge while you prepare the chocolate.

7. Melt the chocolate over a double boiler (alternatively, you can place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 15-second increments, stirring in between until fully melted and smooth).

8. Line a small tray or flat plate with parchment paper. Using a fork or two spoons, dip each egg into the melted chocolate to coat, allow excess chocolate to drip off and transfer to the prepared tray. Transfer tray to the fridge to set for 10 minutes. If you have any leftover chocolate, you can add a drizzle on top of the shells to create a pattern. Otherwise, leftover chocolate can be stored covered at room temperature for one month.

9. Keep eggs stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days — if they last that long!

DoorFoto Makes Decorating So Easy

Check out this unique way to decorate your door

I received a sample from DoorFoto to facilitate this post.

At a time when we are staying home more and can use a change of scenery, a simple decoration for your door can bring a smile to your face. That is what DoorFoto is all about. I love that I can transform any room with a door decoration. I love that I can take a boring white closet door and transform it into a view that makes me smile every time I look at it.

DoorFoto allows you to have amazing doors year-round and they have a wide selection of easy to install door images to chose from. You can also design your own DoorFoto with your choice of an image. If you can imagine it, you decorate your doors and make any room look awesome. These fabric door covers are a great way to decorate a front door for a holiday or announce an important event like the birth of a baby. For inside doors, you can transform your door into your favorite vacation spot or into a field of flowers. My favorite way to decorate with DoorFoto is to use my door for a backdrop for pictures or selfies.

When I selected my door canvas for DoorFoto it was hard to select my favorite as there were so many door pictures that I liked. I selected the Turquoise Shiplap as I knew it would make a great background for headshot photos. The flower decorations on the fabric door cover looked so pretty. The door cover was super easy to install on my hall closet door and it brightens my living room.

So many uses beyond decorating a door

After I installed my DoorFoto, it brought back memories of my mother-in-law and I knew that this simple fabric door cover would have been so useful when she was suffering from Alzheimer's. My mother-in-law is no longer on earth but a DoorFoto would have prevented her from leaving the house. The door cover would have made the house door not look like a door and my mother-in-law would not have wandered away from home all those times. This door decoration could have made the door look like a wall of roses or crystal blue water and not a door. The DoorFoto also covers the doorknob so someone with Alzheimer's would not know that a door was behind the beautiful door cover.

The covers for the doors are available in many sizes so they will fit most doors. I love that the photo door covers are washable and reusable. They are also made in the USA. I really like the way the photo cover looks on my door and I am thinking that I need to buy another DoorFoto for my bedroom door. That way I can transform my bedroom into a beach oasis. My kids would love their bedroom door to look like the Deep space. DoorFoto has hundreds of designs to choose from to decorate your door that will brighten any room and many you smile every time you look at it.
