   I was sent four yummy treats to sample to give my opinion on. Two of the food items were healthy and two were not. The healthy food items were so delicious that my family did not realize that they were healthy and ate them all up. All of the food items that I received would make wonderful gifts for any occasion. So read on to see what I received. I listed the in order of my family’s favorites.

                               Salty Sweet Addiction 

   My family loved this healthy kettle corn popcorn and ate the whole bag in a day, I barely got to eat any. I loved that this 100% all natural popcorn is gluten free and low calorie,  so it is sure to please even the healthiest person. Gourmet Gifter also uses non GMO butterfly popcorn for its rich corn flavor that has a great flavor punch. This salty sweet popcorn is also low in sodium and a great source of fiber. It is a great snack that I can feel good about serving to my kids as it is free from Trans-fat, cholesterol, preservatives, and MSG. This is a gift that I would give to my dad who is on a strict diet due to health reasons. I would also gift it to my friend who wants her children to eat healthy food.

     This cold press meal bar was quite delicious and made a great breakfast on the go. I enjoyed my Meal bar last Sunday, as that is a day I take my breakfast with me due to we have to be there early in the morning. The meal bar that I received was pineapple flavor and had no sugar added to it. The bar receives  all of its flavor from the sweet pineapple. I love that that nothing is baked, cooked, or heated, so none of the nutrients in the ingredients are degrade, That means your body is getting great nutrition. This yummy bar is loaded with all –natural prebiotic fiber that is derived from the tapioca plant. This bar is easy to digest and loaded wit fiber. I would love to receive these meal bars for a gift. It also would make a great gift to give to my friend who is a runner and is always looking for healthy food to eat on the go.

    This handmade peanut brittle was delicious and packed with peanuts. This brittle was sweet and crunchy. The peanut brittle had a nice buttery taste to it and made a nice afternoon treat that satisfied my sweet tooth. This gift would please almost anyone on my list as my friends and family love receiving sweets.



                                                       Chili Cheese Puffs

       Do you have a friend or relative that loves cheese puffs? Then these chili flavored corn puffs are sure to be a hit. These fluffy corn puffs are topped with a blend of cheese and a flavorful spice. I normally don't like cheese puffs but these were delicious and they did not leave my fingers bright orange.    My husband and I enjoyed a night out last night at Bonefish Grill during the Hooked on Tuesday promotion. My husband enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Steak while I enjoyed the Shrimp + Scallops . My husband choose the Asian Pan signature sauce and I choose the Mango Salsa sauce. The Asian Pan sauce gave my husband's Ahi Tuna Steak a nice Oriental flavor while the Mango Salsa had a nice kick of spice to it and gave my seafood a nice fruity taste. We both chose the Cesar salad as our salad choice. The entrees were generously portioned and the food was so delicious. My husband and I both agreed that the price for our food was awesome. Bonefish Grill does a great job when it comes to seafood as their seafood is fresh and seasoned to perfection with spices beyond lemon and butter.

  For dessert we selected the Jen’s Jamaican Coconut Pie and Classic Cheesecake. The desserts were so delicious and of course I had to sneak some bites of my husbands dessert.

Parmesan Spinach Freekeh

     What is Freekeh? Freekeh is a flavorful, high-fiber whole grain that is a traditional food of the Middle East and Northeastern Africa. This roasted young wheat has a nice smoky flavor and a pleasant chewy texture which makes it great for side dishes and salads. This yummy grain cooks up in 25 minutes and also makes a hearty hot cereal. This whole grain is loaded with nutrition too. A ¼ cup serving has 8 grams of fiber, 7 grams protein and lots of iron. 

   I was sent a package of Freekeh from Bob’sRed Mill and I could not wait to cook it. I placed this whole grain in boiling water and simmered it for 25 minutes. The result was a marvelous whole grain that looked like cooked wheat. I tasted it and I loved the chewy texture. I could have eaten the whole pot of Freekeh just as it was, but of course I wanted to make a side dish with it. I added a bag of cooked frozen spinach, some parmesan cheese and some spices. The result was a healthy whole grain side dish. Next time I will add some tofu or other protein to make it a complete meal.

                       Parmesan Spinach Freekeh

                2 ½ cups water

                1 cup uncooked Freekeh

                12 ounces frozen spinach, cooked and drained

                ¼ cup parmesan cheese

                1 teaspoon garlic powder

                1 teaspoon dried rosemary

  Place the water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the cup of Freekeh, cover and simmer on low for 25 minutes. When the Freekeh is cooked, add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Serve as a side dish.

  I am going to have to try this yummy grain another day for breakfast and add some sugar and milk to it. I can see Freekeh being great for making my homemade veggie burgers.

The Blue Man Group Was An Awesome Show At Blogger Bash And A Giveaway

    I went to New York last week for many blogging conferences. One of the conferences that I attended was Blogger Bash. The first day of the conference they treated us to own our private showing of The Blue Man Group. It was so awesome, we bloggers has the whole theater to ourselves. The Blue Man Group was a terrific show to see. Those Blue guys did a wonderful job of entertaining us. The show was very funny and the best part of the show was when they pulled a blogger out of the audience and included her in the act. The Blue guys came this close to choosing me, but I am thankful they did not, as that blogger had to go on stage with the Blue guys, something that would have been out of comfort zone. I highly recommend that you go see the Blue Man show.
