Pictures Of My New Blogger Photo Studio

I love my new workroom/photo studio!

My new workspace and photo studio is a room that I love. I wish I had remodeled this room years ago. This new room is making my blogging work so much easier and less messy. I no longer have the clutter and I am able to get my work done faster. Having everything that I need in one room makes it so much easier to take pictures. Even my teen has used my room to take some pictures.

I can close up the room!

Now when company comes over, I can shut the doors of my workspace so they can't see my mess. My husband says I should keep it clean all the time but I know that may not always happen, especially if I have some work in progress. Saturday is the day that I take all my photos for my articles and the products from companies can accumulate. So I love that I can close the doors and not see the mess of products waiting to be photographed.

So much storage!

My new room has plenty of storage in it for all the things that I need for taking photos. I can store all my dishes and other props in the storage unit. I also have a place to store products as they come in. Around the holidays when I am creating my holiday gift guides, the packages of toys and other Christmas gifts can pile up.

There is even a nice table for taking my pictures. I love that this table is lightweight and it is easy to move around the room. That makes it easy to get the most natural light for my pictures. The photo table is the perfect size for the room.

The photo table.

I love this simple table as it allows me to place different backdrops on it for photos. I can also leave the backdrops out on the table instead of rolling them up. No more having to flatten them. I can also place my photo screen behind the table for larger photos. When I want to do a Youtube video, the storage unit makes a nice clean background.

Reused some furniture!

I reused the older storage cube unit for the place to put all the products that I get from companies. I just open the box that gets delivered and place the stuff into a cube. Then it is easily found when I need to take pictures.

Love my new curtains!

I found these curtains at Target and just had to have them. The cactus on them is so pretty. My son says they would make a great backdrop for photos and I so agree. The curtains also help me adjust the light in the room.

This storage unit has 32 cubes!

I bought this unit at Ikea and it is so awesome for the organization. I am able to store things like dishes and other things that I need for pictures. I even shared some space with my husband for his things. I love that I was able to get cabinets and pull out drawers also at Ikea for the unit. This makes it easy to hide the clutter. I also bought plenty of totes for storage. So my photo room is also an office area for the printer items.

Love the open cubes!

The open cubes were fun to decorate with items that I use for my photos. I love that I can change the items around for holidays or different seasons. Since I am taking summer photos right now I decorated several with a summer theme. I also make a coffee theme as I am always in the mood for coffee. I have plenty of open cubes that I can stash all those cute items that I need for photo props. My favorite place to get photo props is at thrift stores and the dollar store.

Storage for my photo stands.

I can fold up my stand for my bigger photo backdrops here. This space is just the right size. These corners help hide the bigger items so they are not in the way.

Love all the storage!

Everything has a place in this storage unit. The best part is no one sees all the stuff. I love having all my photo stuff in one room. It makes it so easy to take photos and clean up afterward! These cabinets hold everything from dishes to silk flowers. It makes creating the photos so easy as I can glance at what I have and simply grab the perfect props for the cooking photos.

How This Blogger Updated An Office Into A New Photo Studio

A messy unused office became my new photo/work space!

It all started with my daughter asking me to host a baby shower for my new grandbaby. After I said, "of course!", it dawned on me that my house was too cluttered for me to invite 12 people over to celebrate the arrival of my daughter's first baby. I have been avoiding any kind of entertaining for quite some time as my blogging work had taken over most of the downstairs, leaving it quite messy. I was simply overwhelmed by the fact of cleaning up my dining room for a party. Even to the point that I was going to cancel a trip to a conference.

Taming the blogger clutter!

My dining room usually is clutter with my work stuff. At any given time, I can have 10-20 products that need my attention. Last year I accepted a storage cube organizer in hopes that it could help tame the clutter. It did for a while but the room did not stay clean for long.

An outdated office becomes super messy!

Then there was our outdated office that I used for my photos and props. This room also had a large desk with a very old desktop computer on it that had not been used since 2011! Does anyone use desktops anymore? The desk was being used as a place to hold paper clutter and office supplies we no longer needed.

The transformation of a messy office to a photo studio!

My husband was making more money at his job so I asked him if we could turn the office into my workspace. He liked the idea as he later revealed to me that he was embarrassed to open the front door because of all my work clutter. So I went online for some Ikea inspiration and discovered for $50 I could get furniture delivered to my home! My husband was disappointed that there was no road trip to Ikea, sorry honey I don't want to be in the car for 8 hours. I found 16 cube storage unit that I like and Ikea had it priced quite well. So I bought two of those so it would fit across the whole wall. A trip to Lowes after our anniversary dinner gave us the inspiration for doors that the room needed. A good dinner always gets my husband in a shopping mood. Having doors on this room would allow me to close up the room when company came over.

Cleaning up the room was fun for the boys.

This desk had not been used since 2011 so there was a lot of paper clutter like tax papers, old bills, and receipts. It is amazing to think that my kids will never know about having to save all those papers in a file cabinet as everything now is stored online. This cleaning took a whole day and the big massive desk and desktop computer went to the curb. I am shocked that no one wanted them so I had to call the city to take them on trash day.

The room is ready!

The room was ready for the transformation. Now we just had to wait for Ikea to deliver our furniture. It took 2 weeks from the day I ordered for the delivery to be scheduled. Thank goodness the delivery was able to be scheduled on a Saturday so we would be home. This was Mothers day weekend and my son graduated on that Friday. So my mother's day present was everyone helping with building the storage unit and painting/hanging doors. I was worried that putting together the two storage units from Ikea would be a pain for my husband as the last time he put together a dresser he said: "I will not be putting together furniture again!"

The Process Of Turning An Office Into A New Photo Studio

My messy office is being transformed.

Our busy weekend started with a graduation and a track meet. My son graduated high school as the salutatorian of his class! He was almost the valedictorian as he had been number one in his class for 3 years. The girl who was the valedictorian retook a class last summer and had a .033 increase on my son as he had a 4.5-grade point and she had a 4.533-grade point. My son also ran state track the same day and received 6th place with a 4.28-mile time! I am so proud of this boy who is either headed off to the Merchant Marine Academy or the Naval Academy! My son is anxiously awaiting to hear from the Naval Academy.

The painting of the doors!

We purchased some pine folding doors at Lowes for the new room and decided to whitewash them with gray paint. I am glad my husband took over that job as he would not let me paint. The last time I painted, I think most of the paint ended up all over me. I don't have a process photo of the doors but will show the end result in the next post.

I reused the old storage cube system.

I decided to incorporate my old storage system into the new room. This smaller cube storage unit would be a great place for me to store products as they get delivered. That way they would be out of sight until I was able to take photos. My youngest son was excited to rebuild it for the new room.

My husband put together the Ikea storage system with no complaints.

My husband had no problems putting together the furniture from Ikea and said that Ikea is the only place that he will buy particle board furniture from. It was easy to put together the shelf unit as the pieces all came pre-drilled and the instructions were easy to follow. My husband also hung the new doors and moved the wall shelves up higher. The doors gave him some trouble as we did not account for the baseboards in the measurements. It took us all day to build everything but we did it!
