Confessions Of A Prodigal Son Is A Must See Movie

I had the opportunity to view Confessions Of A Prodigal Son which is a "modern retelling"  on the prodigal son from the New Testament Luke 15:11-32.  This is a bible story about a man who had 2 sons whom he gave their inheritance. The story tells about how the younger one left he father and wasted all his money and had to live among the pigs to survive. He returned, years later, to his father to ask for forgiveness for his sins and to be allowed to work with the hired help. His father forgave him and threw him a party as he was so happy that his son had returned. This made his older brother angry as the younger brother had done wrong. The father then replied His father said, "Son, you don’t understand. You’re with me all the time, and everything that is mine is yours—but this is a wonderful time, and we had to celebrate. This brother of yours was dead, and he’s alive! He was lost, and he’s found!" I just love this story in the bible and knew I had to watch the Confessions Of A Prodigal Son which will be out on DVD in stores March 24th.

The Confessions Of A Prodigal Son is a "modern retelling" of the biblical story about a rebellious pastor's son named Sean who thinks he is entitled to his college fund from his father. Sean takes the money and leaves home. He wants to escape from his parents and live the way he wants to. He lives the wild life at school. His ways lead to being kicked out of school, wrecking his car, and losing all his money. He hits the bottom and comes to his senses with the help of a girl who reluctantly became his friend. He returns home, hoping for a second chance from his parents. What he receives from his parents is more than he deserves.

This is a very good movie that kept me engaged at all times. I watched this movie at home and I had the opportunity to pause the movie, but I did not want to as I had to find out what was going to happen next. I could see things in the movie that made me think of my life when I was a young adult and similar mistakes that I had made. I watched the movie with my husband and he said at the end "that was a good movie." I just loved how a story written over 2000 years ago has so many similarities to today's culture.

Nathan Clarkson, who wrote the screenplay and produced the film, also plays the title character. Sean’s father is played by the mighty Kevin Sorbo, who also starred in God’s Not Dead. This is a movie that is safe for the whole family. This is a movie that I recommend all to see, as I think everyone will walk away with the knowledge that we all can get a second chance, no matter what we have done. The Confessions Of A Prodigal Son which will be out on DVD in stores March 24th.
