I am the mom who sends the healthy snacks to school!
I received samples of Wonderful Halos to facilitate this post.
I always try to send a healthy treat to school when my kids are having class parties. I have nothing against the cookies and cupcakes that are served in abundance at the party. I just want there to be a healthy option for kids to select. I know what you are thinking, it is a party so let the kids have some treats. I do let my kids eat treats but if they want to have something healthy then they should be able to. You might just be surprised to see kids choose fruit, when it is offered, over junk. If they are like my boys, they will eat the fruit with the cookie. My boys may also eat that delicious fruit later in the day. So this mom sends easy to eat delicious Wonderful Halos to the school parties. The wonderful thing about these cute orange bundle of sweet fruit is, the child can grab one and take it home with them for a later snack. It will be that later snack that the kid will realize how awesome Halos taste and then request them next time when their parent goes to the store.
With about 28 Wonderful Halos in every 5lb. box, there are enough snacks for an entire classroom or sports team, and each piece of fruit is already individually wrapped.
You might be surprised at the number of kids who do not eat the recommended 5 a day servings of fruit, some sadly don't have any fruit in their diet, simply because it was not offered. So I want to be that mom that offers fruit so kids will see how delicious it is. Halos are my boy's favorite fruit! My boys just love how easy they are to peel and their small sections are easy to pop into their mouth. They also have no added sugar! The teen usually eats three at a time! This cute orange fruit is perfect to toss into a backpack for a later snack. I always keep several pounds of Halos in my fridge for my boys to snack on, even my husband enjoys them in his lunch.
These delicious fruits are also so easy for my boys to take to school as Halos don't break like cookies or get smooshed like cake. I love that they don't need to be refrigerated. Did you know that Halos are seedless and contain no GMOs? These orange gems are grown in California and contain lots of vitamin C too, making it a perfect snack for cold/flu season. They are simply the cool snack!
How are Halos seedless?
The reason most citrus fruits contain seeds is because the flowers on the trees are pollinated by bees. However, we’re able to make Halos seedless by keeping bees away, either by protecting the trees with nets or by situating our groves far from where the bees live. We also use traditional plant breeding techniques to minimize the number of seeds in our mandarins. We regularly test our fruit for seeds, but occasionally a seed or two will slip by.
Are Halos genetically modified?
Halos are completely natural and non-GMO (non-genetically modified organisms). In fact, Halos were the first mandarin to be verified by the Non-GMO Project, North America’s only third-party verification organization.
I am glad that these super sweet Halos are always available in my favorite store. They are always on my shopping list as I know my boys love them. What mom is going to say no to fruit?
So be sure to enjoy Halos® when they’re in season, from November through May.
