Tracking My Steps Helps Me To Stay In Shape

I love walking for exercise and it helps me to stay in shape. I used to be a runner but an injury forced me to only walk for exercise. I thought for sure that once I stopped running I would gain weight, but I did not. The reason I was able to maintain my shape and not gain weight was I started fast walking and counted my steps. By counting my steps, I was able to see that I was getting the same amount of exercise as I was when running. When I was running I would run for 30 minutes and five miles. Now that I am walking it takes me more time to get the same amount of miles. So I now keep track of my steps and distance with an easy to use pedometer. I just love how easy it is to operate.

Walking is a great way to get your exercise and stay in shape. In order for walking to benefit your health and help you stay in shape, one must walk fast and walk a certain amount of time. They (health experts) say 30 minutes of fast walking 3- 5 days a week is good for your health. They also say one should aim for 3-5 miles a day for good health. If you want to lose weight than you should walk more. Some people like to count their walking in time and others in distance. So how do you keep track of all this and get your walking it. You could spend mega bucks on a fancy fitness watch or you could save mega bucks and invest in a pedometer by Ozo Fitness. I personally like pedometers better as I can see the results right away and not have to check my phone or tablet while I am walking. The pedometer does not need charging every night either as it lasts a long time before it needs a new battery. The pedometer by Ozo Fitness has a screen that dims when not in use and turns on when you start walking.

The Ozo Fitness Pedometer clips on to my shorts and stays put. I love that it has a large screen that is easy to read. It also has a clock on it so I know the current time. For those who want to keep track of their steps/distance for more than one day, this pedometer has a 7 day memory log. For me personally, I like to just go for a walk and get away from my electronics so I don't want be bothered with having to use complicated apps my computer. This pedometer is simple to use, I just clip it on and go. I don't even have to reset it or turn it on as it resets to zero every night and turns on once I start walking.

Do you enjoy walking for exercise? Here are some health benefits of walking to get you motivated to walk more.

  • It Can Lower Your Rate of Weight Gain - A study tracked the weight of over 800 people for four years and found the average person gained 3 1/2 pounds. However, those that walked to work gained 2 lbs. less than those that took their cars. Even if those driving were physically active at other times of the day
  • It Can Give you More Energy - A study found that walking for 15 minutes after a meal 3x per day, was more effective at regulating blood sugar levels than a single 45 minute walk in the morning or afternoon
  • It Can Improve your Mood & Sense of Well Being - A study found that walking briskly for just 10 minutes can improve your mood for up to 2 hours following the walk
  • It Can Improve Cardiovascular Health - There have been many studies on how brisk walks can improve your cardiovascular health, lower your risks of heart disease and stroke
So what are you waiting for? Lace up those shoes, clip on an Ozo Fitness pedometer and get walking.

most smart phones have these built in, but I guess we can't afford new iPhone 6's.

With these, you know you can at least burn off some calories each day.

Thanks for Sharing.

My kids have one and they love it. They think its a game to see who gets the most steps. Winner picks dessert for the night. Great way for them to stay active.

I really need to pick up a pedometer, this look like a good one to use. I don't run as much as I used to but still would like to walk a lot.

Tracking steps is so helpful, and is really my most used feature of the FitBit. I get WAY less steps in if I am not keeping track. It really helps to be mindful!

I like that it clips onto your shorts. That makes it handy for using any time.

Pedometers are great to see how much activity you're getting through the day! I hate looking at mine to see I've only done 2000 steps, it makes me get up and get moving :)
