Working Out Even When You Don’t Want To

                        I was craving something sweet.

There are many days that I just don’t feel like working out. Those are the days that I have to force myself and trust me it isn’t always easy. The other night I had planned to head to the gym in two hours when it was more convenient/cooler weather for me. Then two hours later, I felt sick to my stomach and did not want to go to the gym. I decided to head out the door anyway and walk to the gym hoping I would feel better.

My snack choice affected my workout.

It was my own fault that I felt sick as I snuck an ice cream treat earlier. The cookie and cream Mochi frozen treat just sounded so good. I wish I got had selected one of the dairy-free Mochi treats that were in my freezer instead and then I would not have felt sick. I need to just accept my dairy issues and stop wishing that maybe I could eat milk products.

Getting started was the hardest part.

So, I started walking the half mile to the gym thinking it would help my nausea and it did help a little bit. Once I arrived at the gym, I was still a bit queasy so I decided to start with the weights first. Sometimes my dairy issues only last a couple of hours, so I maybe by the time I was done with the weights I would feel better. Thirty minutes later, I was done with my weights and still queasy but I told myself to take it easy on the elliptical machine. I put my tunes on and started as a slow workout was better than none.

A slow workout is better than none.

About 10 minutes into my workout, I forgot all about my workout and started to enjoy it. I know that watching the Food Channel and people making French Napoleon Pastries sure did help. I might be a bit strange but it was not making me hungry but rather I was desiring to learn how to make this fancy dessert. I also had music on and I started to workout faster so I think I had a good 20 minutes of a workout.

A workout always makes me feel good!

I then walked home, feeling good that I workout. I also told myself to go running first thing in the morning as it would be cooler then. I will also reach for a non-dairy treat next time I crave something sweet like this dairy-free Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Pudding.

What do you do when you don't feel like working out?

Yup, I rarely want to work out. But I force myself to jog daily. I know I need to do it to fit into my pants.

I have to admit now I physically can't work out - I wish I had done it more, run more, swam more, enjoyed my mobile body more.

You are so determined :) I have to teach myself to do work out and be healthy.

Thank you for this inspiring post. It is relatable and real! I remind myself that it is when I least want to work out that a workout will benefit me most, and then I go and take a walk...and perhaps even a run πŸƒπŸ»‍♀️ ☺️πŸ‘πŸΌ. Xo Evelyn, PathofPresence

I am not really a gym person but few months back, I enrolled myself to a Zumba dance class. Well, I liked it, it was fun and I did shed some pounds. But I think, what I lack is motivation and goal, and so I finally stopped.

It's almost impossible for me to workout, because I am in constant pain.

I really need to start working out. I eat when I'm not working out but definitely need to hit the ground.

Using a good quality and non slip yoga mat is really important, to do exercise regularly and in a flexible way. This will help you to do exercise more effectively too.
