Cabrini is based on the true story of one woman’s fight for the equality, health, and happiness of immigrant orphans in New York. It is a movie that you need to watch.
Francesca Cabrini was a powerful woman who did not take no for an answer. Francesca Cabrini was born in northern Italy in 1850. Cabrini had a heart for orphan children and made it her mission to help them. When her attempts to open an orphanage near Rome failed, she and six of her Missionary Sisters set off for New York City in 1889.
When Cabrini arrived in New York, she had one mission and that was to help the orphan Italian immigrant children. While she was overwhelmed by the disease and crime, she did not let that stop her from rescuing the orphan children. She knew that these children were not going to survive unless she did something.

About Cabrini: From Alejandro Monteverde, award-winning director of 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮, comes the powerful epic of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who arrives inNew York City in 1889 and is greeted by disease, crime, and impoverished children. Cabrini sets off on a daring mission to convince the hostile mayor to secure housing and healthcare for society's most vulnerable. With broken English and poor health, Cabrini uses her entrepreneurial mind to build an empire of hope, unlike anything the world had ever seen.
"We can serve our weakness or we can serve our purpose ~ not both."
Cabrini was a hard-working Italian immigrant who had empathy for these kids and she was a strong-willed lady who set out to change things. Over the course of 34 years, she established an astonishing 67 hospitals, orphanages, and schools all throughout the world. All of her institutions were run by women.
Her energy was fueled by an intense focus on serving Jesus in whatever he asked of her and her legacy still stands today. Cabrini paved the way for immigrants and her legacy is one that will never be forgotten.
Cabrini was canonized in 1946 by Pope Pius XII and became the first American citizen to be named a saint. Four years later she was given the title of Patroness of Immigrants.
Watch the powerful trailer of Cabrini
"In the greatest nation in the world, rats have it better than the children."
Cabrini is a movie that I enjoyed watching, it opened my eyes about immigration. The movie showed me a side of immigration that no one wants to talk about. It showed me what my ancestors had to endure to survive in a world where they were not welcomed. It showed what kids, who lost their parents, had to endure. It opened my eyes to the hate that comes from people.
#CabriniMIN #MomentumInfluencerNetworkJust because people are different, does not mean that we have to look the other way. We need to be like Cabrini and make a difference. What kind of world do we want and what will we do to achieve it?
