Most teens like sleep. They will hit the snooze button over and over again. Or if they are like my teen, they stay up late texting their girlfriend and then have to set several alarms so they do not oversleep. Most teens have little time in the morning for breakfast and tend to either skip breakfast or grab something unhealthy from the vending machine at school. Not having a healthy breakfast leads to teens not performing well at school as they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. My teen has become smart and prepares his breakfast at night. That way all he has to do is quickly either heat it up or grab his food to go. I think my teen is able to get up, grab his breakfast and get out the door in 15 minutes. Thankfully my teen eats healthy and knows the importance of breakfast and school performance. So I want to share with you some of my teens favorite healthy breakfast items that he eats throughout the week.
Overnight Oats
My teen will put a 1/2 cup of oatmeal in a blender bottle along with a tablespoon of chia seeds and 1/4 cup of dried fruit like raisins or dried cranberries. He then pours in 1 cup of milk and places the container in the fridge before he goes to bed. In the morning he just grabs the container of oatmeal from the fridge and puts it in his backpack. If the thought of eating cold oatmeal is not your thing, you can heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds.
Oatmeal to go
My son likes his oatmeal warm in the winter so he makes this oatmeal when it is cold out. My son discovered that his brothers insulated metal drinking glasses are the perfect containers for taking hot oatmeal with him to school. A coffee mug will also work. My son places 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 1 tablespoon chia seed, and dried fruit in the container before he goes to bed. Then in the morning, my teen will pour boiling water into the container and put the lid on it. This type of container is leakproof and keeps the food warm. By the time my son gets to school, the oatmeal is cooked and ready to eat.
Smoothies
My teen also enjoys smoothies for breakfast. He prepares the smoothie the night before in the blender bottle that fits in the blender. My teen will place a sliced banana, some strawberries, and chia seeds in the bottle. Then he puts the bottle in the fridge. In the morning, he adds a cup of milk and four ice cubes to the bottle and places it on the blender for a minute. Another smoothie that my teen makes is a chocolate peanut butter one. My son places a scoop of chocolate protein powder, a sliced banana, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, and 1 tablespoon chia seed. This mom is happy that my teen likes chia seeds. In the morning my son adds a cup of water and four ice cubes to the smoothie. He again blends it for a minute and then pours it in a to-go container.
Peanut butter and jelly
When my son has to get up super early in the morning for school, he will make an extra peanut butter sandwich for his lunch sack. He also tosses in some extra fruit. My son always prepares his lunch in the evening so he can sleep more. Then he will eat the peanut butter sandwich and fruit when he gets to school.
Egg White & Turkey Sausage sandwich
My son's favorite breakfast is the easiest to make. My son loves this grab-and-go flatbread pocket sandwich. This fluffy, egg white cheddar omelet only takes 85 seconds to cook. This warm Sandwich Bros. sandwich has a tasty Jones® sausage patty and a fluffy egg white cheddar omelet that is nestled in a soft flatbread pocket. When my son has time, he will eat the egg white & turkey sausage sandwich at home but if he is low on time, he just grabs one of the sandwiches from the freezer and heats it up at school. Thankfully there is a microwave in his ROTC class. These delicious wholesome sandwiches have 11 grams of protein too.
Sandwich Bros. has a variety of delicious wholesome sandwiches that are super easy to prepare in less than a minute. They are perfect for busy teens who need a healthy breakfast, lunch, or snack. I always have several different kinds in my freezer. My teen loves eating the Chicken Melt for lunch. You can find these wholesome sandwiches at Kroger, Costco, Sams, and many other stores. I bought my sandwiches at Smiths http://www.sandwichbros.com/where-to- buy/

These looks like a great option for breakfast.
I have to admit even now I am awful when it comes to breakfast, I might have to try some of these ideas myself.
I love drinking smoothies in the morning. It is quick and easy but still filling.
Smoothies are my all time favorite for breakfast. Mainly because the varity is endless and I love creating new flavors
A smoothie is always a great idea, especially that you can prepare it the night before. In the morning all you have to do is blend the fruits.
I always skip breakfast. I know it's bad but I can't help it. Thank you for these ideas, I will try to prepare some and I hope I'll change this habit soon.
This looks like something I could get down with for breakfast! I am always in such a hurry.
I've passed the teenage years and i would be so happy to have these as my breakfast. You are a sweet Mom!
great ideas, I leave home every morning sometimes before sun is up. These are great ideas to take with me on the run
thanks for sharing come see us at http://shopannies.blogspot.com
These are some really healthy breakfast ideas for every age group! Smoothies are excellent for a great start of the day! ;)
These are some great ideas! My son is only one year old, but I always give him super simple, quick breakfasts. On Sundays we'll have a nice, big, sit-down breakfast, but I just don't have the time to do that every day. Bagels, Eggos, Oatmeal, and Fruit seem to work well for us! I'll definitely try these out when he's a little older :)
Good healthy lunches.
Great ideas for easy breakfasts! My kids often have fruit or granola bars because these things are easy to eat on the go.

That all sounds amazing! I sure wish that my son would start eating healthier soon. Definitely going to try this sandwich soon.
