What to make with a can of salmon

The other day, I was looking in my pantry for inspiration for what to make for dinner. I noticed that I had several cans of salmon from Safe Catch and a bag of rice. My first thought of what to make for dinner with these ingredients was a poke bowl. I then realized that my family wanted a warm meal.

So, I headed to the Safe Catch website to look at their recipes with canned salmon. The website had plenty of recipes that looked delicious. The one that caught my attention was a salmon curry. My family enjoys meals made with curry, and I had all the ingredients that were needed to make the recipe.

Why I like Safe Catch Salmon

Safe Catch salmon is 100% wild salmon with nothing added. This delicious can of salmon also has the lowest mercury limit of any salmon brand. I just love how they cook the raw salmon in its can.

When you open a can of ordinary seafood like salmon or tuna, the first thing that you do is drain the oil or water from the can. With Safe Catch seafood, no draining is needed as they don't add anything to their can of fish. They don’t add oil, water, fillers, preservatives, or GMO-Soy broth to their salmon. So when you open up the can, all you will find is pure wild salmon. That liquid that you see is natural fish oil, so just stir it back into the salmon. Safe Catch also hand-packs the raw wild salmon into the can and then slow-cooks it to perfection. This method helps retain all the vital Omega-3 oils and nutrients.

A simple recipe that can be made on the stovetop

This simple recipe for Salmon Curry With Rice can be made on the stovetop. If you have a rice cooker, you can even use it for this recipe. The original recipe from the Safe Catch website uses just one pan to cook everything but was able to reduce the cooking time by making the rice in one pan while making the salmon curry in another.

Sure, that meant I had two pans to wash, but dinner was ready in less time. This dish is perfect for a busy weeknight. This was a lick the plate clean recipe!

Common questions

~ Can I use curry paste for the curry powder? Yes. As a general rule, 1 teaspoon of curry powder equals 1 tablespoon of curry paste. For this recipe, use 2 tablespoons of curry powder or 6 tablespoons of curry paste. Just make sure to use yellow curry.

~ Can I add different vegetables? You can swap out the peas for other vegetables or add additional vegetables. Some suggestions for vegetables are frozen broccoli, chopped fresh bell peppers. or frozen cauliflower.

~ Can I store leftovers in the fridge? Yes, the leftovers can be reheated in the microwave.

~ Can I use other types of rice? The original recipe uses Jasmine rice, but you can use whatever rice you have on hand.

~ Can I serve the curry over pasta? This curry can be served over pasta, potatoes, or by itself.

Tuna Avocado Rice Bowl With Mango

If you love sushi, you are going to love this tuna avocado rice bowl with mango. This recipe is perfect for making sushi at home without all the difficult sushi rolling. This bowl has all the flavor of sushi but is so much easier to make.

My favorite restaurant meals are sushi and poki bowls. Now that I am trying to save money, I am not eating out as much. So I have had to learn how to be creative in the kitchen with the ingredients that I have at home. I quickly learned how difficult it was to make sushi rolls and that I did not have fresh tuna in my fridge.

Looking to make your own sushi dish with simple ingredients? You need to make a tuna rice bowl. This recipe is delicious and similar to a poke bowl. With just a few ingredients, you can enjoy this wonderful bowl for a quick meal.

Ingredients Needed

 ~ Cooked White Rice

 ~ Rice Vinegar

 ~ Sugar

 ~ Safe Catch Tuna

 ~ Seaweed

 ~ Cucumber

 ~ Mango

 ~ Avocado

 ~ Spicy Mayo

My Recipe Inspiration Came From A Tuna Sushi Stack Recipe

It all started with a can of delicious tuna from Safe Catch. I was browsing through recipes on the Safe Catch website and came across a recipe that was similar to the viral tuna sushi tower. The photo of the tuna tower looked so amazing.

I wanted to make this recipe for lunch but quickly realized that I did not have sushi rice or the tools needed to make the tower. All I had was a can of Safe Catch Elite Wild Tuna, white rice, an avocado, a cucumber, frozen mango slices, and spicy mayo, along with a craving for sushi.

So I used my creativity and whipped up the next best thing to a sushi tower. I made a delicious Tuna Avocado Rice Bowl With Mango. This sushi bowl was so easy to make and tasted better than a poke bowl.

Safe Catch Elite Wild Tuna

I always keep several cans of tuna in my pantry for making sushi bowls. One of my favorite brands of canned tuna is Safe Catch Elite Wild Tuna. Safe Catch tuna is wild and sustainably caught and has the lowest mercury of any brand. The natural omega-3s and vital oils make this tuna taste so good!

With Safe Catch Elite tuna, there is nothing to pour down the drain. Simply open the can and use a fork to flake the tuna steak, then watch the natural omega-3s and vital oils be absorbed by the tuna.

The Best Substitute For Sushi Rice

Most people don't have sushi rice in their pantry, but they most likely have white rice. Sushi rice is also more expensive than white rice. You can easily turn white rice into sushi rice with rice vinegar and sugar.

To make sushi rice with white rice, simply add 1/4 cup of rice vinegar mixed with 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of salt to a batch of white rice while it is still hot. This will give the rice a sticky texture with a sweet taste.

Steps to making the Tuna Rice Bowl

  1. Scoop rice in a bowl

  2. Add diced cucumber, diced avocado, and diced mango

  3. Sprinkle seaweed

  4. Top with tuna

  5. Drizzle spicy mayo

Red, White & Blue Surf Burgers With Safecatch

Fourth of July is the perfect excuse to fire up the grill and cook up a feast. However, it can get tiring eating the same things—beef or turkey hamburgers. If plant burgers aren’t your thing and you still want an alternative to beef or turkey, it’s time to try a salmon burger. Salmon is lean, has as much protein as beef, and you get the added benefit of omega-3 oils.

Every 4th of July, my friends invite me over for a barbecue. The menu is always burgers. For someone who does not eat red meat or turkey, I am left with the option of bringing a plant-based burger. This year, I decided to bring something different.

I discovered an amazing salmon burger recipe from Safecatch, and I want to share it with you. This is a recipe that you are going to like. The burgers are made with Safecatch salmon and packed with protein. The spicy, tangy salmon burger pairs perfectly with a fresh slaw.

For those who have food allergies, the salmon burger can be topped with dairy-free cheese and served on a gluten-free bun.

Why I like Safecatch Salmon

The best salmon burger recipe

The salmon burgers were so delicious and easy to make. I made some modifications to the recipe to accommodate my food allergies. I did not add any cheese to my salmon burger, and I used a gluten-free bun. I also cooked my burgers on an indoor grill.

The kids are on summer break and all they seem to do is eat all day. You are tired of being a short-order cook. Now is the perfect time to teach your children how to make their own meals. Help your kids learn how to cook and let them help out with family meals.

Teaching Kids How To Make The Salmon Pasta Salad

The first step to teaching kids how to cook is to have them help you in the kitchen. Teach them how to measure ingredients and mix things together. For older kids, show them how to safely use a knife to cut up ingredients, heat up food in a microwave, and cook pasta on the stove.

I like to make a big batch of pasta and keep it in the fridge. Then kids can heat it up in the microwave with their favorite topping. Pasta will keep fresh in the fridge for up to a week.

If you don't want your child using the stove, premake the pasta for this recipe and store it in the fridge.
