The Posture Perfect Pillow was different. The bowtie shape looked like it could be comfortable. This pillow is made for back sleepers and side sleepers. 

When used for side sleeping, one uses the pillow as is. When used for sleeping on your back, the pillow has snaps to transform it into a different shape. The unusual part of this pillow is that you can snap the pillow around your neck for additional support.


My first night with the Mercola Market Pillow

 I sleep on my side, so I used the pillow without snapping it up. I had a hard time sleeping with just this pillow. While the pillow had a nice feel to it, I was used to having a bigger pillow. I like to hug my pillow as I sleep, and I could not do that. 

 I gave the pillow a chance by itself, but after an hour of using the pillow, I could not get comfortable. So I grabbed my other 2 pillows from the floor and placed them back on my bed. I then decided to just hug the Mercola pillow as I slept. 

The unique bowtie shape of the pillow was awesome to snuggle with. It reminded me of the body pillow that I used when I was pregnant. I placed the pillow under my knee while I was on my side, and it gave my body great support. I decided to use this pillow for body support to align my spine in a comfortable position.

Some nights I placed the pillow under my knee, and other nights, I placed the pillow under my arm. It felt good to snuggle with this pillow. Since the pillow was smaller, it did not take up much room on the bed, so it did not annoy my husband.

I tried the pillow, snapped up 

 I decided to try the pillow in the snapped form while I was awake. My sleep apnea does not allow me to sleep on my back. The pillow was comfortable in the snapped position, and I could see myself using the pillow while relaxing on the couch. My experience with the Elegear Cooling Mattress Pad

The Elegear Cooling Mattress Pad arrived in a vacuum-packed bag, and I could not wait to try it out on my bed. It was cool to see the mattress pad expand upon opening up the bag. The mattress pad felt cool to the touch. Washing the king-size mattress pad was easy, and it fit perfectly in my washing machine.

 I am no stranger to sleeping issues and I frequently have trouble falling asleep. The Morphee gave me options for how I wanted to relax

  Everyone has different ways to relax and the Morphee delivers natural sleep-inducing programs with so many options. Some people may like a guided voice telling them to take deep breaths while others can be soothed to sleep with music.  Many years ago when I was pregnant with my fourth child, I would start gasping for air in the middle of the night. It felt like someone was choking me and I could not breathe. This gasping-for-air sensation would make me immediately sit up and violently cough. It was a scary thing to not be able to breathe. After several minutes, that felt like forever, I was able to catch my breath. It was then that I learned about what sleep apnea is. 



What is sleep apnea? 

Sleep apnea is the most common sleep-related breathing disorder. It causes you to repeatedly stop and start breathing while you sleep.

 These episodes of gasping for air in my sleep happened several more times throughout my pregnancy. Once I delivered my baby, I did not experience any sleep apnea symptoms for a while. So I thought that being pregnant had some effect on my breathing. Then several years later, I started having these gasping-for-air episodes again when I was pregnant with my 5th child. This time the sleep apnea symptoms did not go away.

 Another symptom that made me question if I had sleep apnea was my difficulty concentrating during the day and being told that I snored. I also was tired during the day. I was in denial about the snoring as who wants to believe that they snore while sleeping. I also thought that my concentration problems and tiredness were due to raising 5 kids. My last two kids were 16 months apart and were not good sleepers. 


My youngest son started having sleep issues with coughing

 When my youngest son turned five, he started coughing in his sleep. This coughing would happen several times a night. When the nighttime coughing episodes lasted more than a month, I took my son to the doctor. The doctor looked at my son's tonsils and had me make an appointment to see an ENT doctor.  My youngest son still has signs of sleep apnea like snoring and coughing in his sleep but having his tonsils removed has helped. Instead of having sleep apnea episodes on a nightly basis, they only happen a couple times a month. 7 Tips For Winter Wellness

 As we head into the cold winter make sure to take time for wellness with these 7 tips

As I look at the 10-day weather forecast, I am reminded that winter will be here soon. I am a summer person and I dread the cold winter days for so many reasons. Winter brings a chill in the air and means no more being able to wear shorts and tank tops. Winter means having to close all the windows in the house and not enjoying the fresh outside air. The cold days that begin with no sunshine make it hard to get out of bed while the cold temperatures outside mean less time spent outside. Then there is the way to many layers of clothes that I have to put on every day. Winter also means more cloudy days of no bright sunshine so my SADD kicks in and I long for summer again.

Winter is a time of year that we should give our wellness routine a boost. If you don't have a wellness routine, now is the perfect time to start one. Practicing wellness will help your body be stronger and that will help with many things like immunity, stress, mood, and more. It is amazing what some simple wellness things can do for the health of our bodies.



1. Take Time For Yourself

 Winter was made to be a time for our bodies to slow down and rest. Now that the cold weather keeps us inside more this can be an opportunity to take some time for yourself. For some people that may be a hard thing to do as you may have kids or other things that seem to fill up your day. Taking time for you is so important to your wellness. Think of something that you enjoy. That enjoyment could be as simple as sipping a warm cup of coffee to traveling to the beach. Now think about how you can do something every day for you. Your wellness matters and you need to not feel guilty when you love yourself. 

 If you are a busy mom and the kids don't nap, enjoy that cup of coffee while they are playing outside or watching TV. Maybe it is a TV show that you like or taking a long bath. Parents need not feel guilty about their kids watching TV if that means you can take some time for you. If you have a busy workday and don't think that you can find time for you, take 5 minutes to do something that brings you pleasure. For me, that can be just sitting outside listening to the birds sing. Then once a week take some more time and do something that brings you joy, like taking a bike ride or getting your favorite flavor of ice cream. When you learn to love yourself, you can then love other people more.

2. Eat Healthy When You Can

 While healthy food is best for our wellness, there will be days that you don't eat 100% healthy food. That is ok and food is meant to be enjoyed. So go ahead and enjoy that occasional piece of cake or slice of pizza and focus on healthy nourishing food most of the time. Our bodies run better and can fight off germs better when we feed it food that is full of healthy nutrients. Fruits and veggies are loaded with vitamins and minerals that do so many things for our wellness. Protein is good for our muscles and whole grains give us fiber and lasting energy. 5. Get Up And Move 

 Our bodies were made to move and fitness should always be a part of your wellness plan. Exercise benefits the body in so many ways. Thirty minutes of exercise a day can keep our heart healthy and our muscles strong. Working out can also help our mind feel good. It is amazing how a walk outside can change my mood and give me the energy to get things done. I prefer to exercise first thing in the morning as morning exercise is good for the mind.   Sleep is another item that is a part of a wellness routine. We all know that our bodies need sleep for our wellbeing, but getting the right amount of sleep can be difficult for some. There can be many things that can be affecting our sleep including kids, work, and health problems.
