Strawberry Lemonade Shortcake

Look at how pretty these cakes are!

I remember my mom making strawberry shortcake in the summer. She would make these wonderful sugar cookie biscuits from that blue box of biscuit mix, the one that started with a J. It was amazing how many different items my mom made from that biscuit mix that included pancakes, biscuits, cookies, and those wonderful shortcake biscuits. After the shortcakes were baked my mom would slice them in half and top them with strawberries and whip topping. This was my favorite summer dessert.  Since strawberries were not in season the rest of the year, I was not able to enjoy strawberry shortcake.

My son read the instructions and gathered up everything that we needed to bake.

I now can create that same summer memory with my own kids with Foodstirs Modern Baking kits.  This awesome baking kit puts a unique twist on my childhood favorite dessert. The kit contains almost everything that you need to make pretty Strawberry Lemonade Shortcakes. I love that some of the ingredients are organic. The delicious kit also includes items like a piping bag, cupcake liners, and straws so the cakes look like glasses of strawberry lemonade. The only items that I needed were butter, milk, and yogurt. I was pleasantly surprised that this awesome baking kit had packets of True Lemon.

Sponsored post: I received a baking kit from Foodstirs to facilitate this post.

So my youngest son and I set out to create our Strawberry Lemonade cakes. This was the second kit that we have made. Our first kit that we made were those cute flower pot cookies that I showcased on my Mother Day gift idea post last May. My boys had so much fun cutting out the cookies and decorating them. I just love that these kits get my boys interested in baking and teaches them cooking skills. My boys are even learning how to use an electric mixer. They think the best part is licking the beaters. Their favorite saying is “some moms let their kids lick the beaters, nice moms turn the mixer off first.”

Baking hack: put the frosting bag in a cup to make filling it so much easier!

I love that this unique baking kit comes with easy to read instructions that include step by step pictures. That really makes it easy for my boys to create their delicious dessert.

So here are our yummy Strawberry Lemonade cupcakes~~ my son and I both agreed that they were so good. The boys both agreed that the best part of baking is the eating.

My son had so much fun making these cupcakes. I just love that he was able to make these all by himself!

This baking kit is just one of many kits that Foodstirs sells. Go take a look at their other baking kits.
