How A Busy Mom Can Stay Healthy On The Go

When life gets busy, it’s easy to turn to convenience for your health. Food, exercise and general healthy living drop down the priority list when work and parenthood get in the way. It’s easily done; as moms, we tend to put ourselves second to everyone else in the family. Even those who do not have any children can struggle to maintain a healthy life. Career, social life, and general living simply come first and that can lead to a health decline.

It’s important to remember your health, though, because your children are going to learn from you. If they can see you healthy and happy, then they can mimic your behaviors. Staying healthy as a parent means more than disappearing to the gym once or twice a week. You need to look at your food and the way you eat first and add working out afterward. Going online and looking for the right lifestyle to work around you can get confusing, as there is so much to choose from, from calorie counting to fasting. Here’s a quick way to find the top weight loss shakes, or failing that, check out these apps for health on your smartphone. You have to be the master of your own lifestyle choice and with these tips, you can be healthy no matter how busy you are.

  • Rest: As a parent, sleep is a precious commodity that can be difficult to come by. If you ensure that you get at least seven hours of sleep a night, you can function for the day with enough energy so you don’t crash.
  • Family Time: Finding family time together can be difficult when life gets busy, but if you get the whole family involved alongside you, it’s two in one. The whole family can get healthy and exercise with you. Long hikes and cycle rides together can allow for time to bond as well as time to get fit.
  • Play Time: Busy kids are happy kids and if you make your workout all about chasing after them, you can make them happy alongside keeping your fitness levels up.
  • Planning: Every busy parent needs to have impeccable organisational skills. If you prep your meals in advance and bulk freeze, you can grab dinner in an instant. All the planning and preparation, including writing a weekly menu of your meals, will mean you can easily stick to a meal plan.
  • Self-Care: Health isn’t just about your food and exercise. Taking time to care for yourself is a big part of your health and wellbeing. All you need is fifteen minutes a day just to breathe, centre yourself and commit to yourself. Take a long bubble bath on a Sunday morning and make that the thing you do just for you.
  • Hydrate: Your water intake may not be something you think about, but it should be. A well-hydrated brain is a healthy one. Keep a water bottle with you all day and refill it as you need.

Your health and wellbeing do not have to suffer just because life is busy. You find a way to make it work and you do it because it’s the best thing for you.

Thanks for the most excellent advice! Being a busy parent I tend to neglect myself and put myself last!
